Hey all! I was dx'd a few years ago but my doctors kept putting off starting a pump due to pregnancies. I finally started on the Animas Ping last Friday, after a week of almost rescheduling my training out of nerves and fear of change. I'm so glad I didn't. This thing is incredible. So easy to use and I don't miss injections at all. My sugars have been so great, too.
I actually found this website because of my pump. I was trying to figure out how to change the song it plays for alerts and reminders (Fur Elise drives me crazy), and some posts from here came up over and over. I spent entirely too much time yesterday trying to decide what to change it to and decided on two bits from Musicbox Dancer, and love it!
I can't wait to see what my next A1C brings and just how awesome life with a pump will be! :)
Wendi - Congrats on taking the plunge with the pump. It's not for everybody but this technology has served me well for many years.
It's just a tool, no more, no less. How well you use it is completely up to you. The more important element in this equation is your curiosity and persistence. If you haven't already, I encourage you to read the pump books written by Gary Scheiner and John Walsh.
Even though I have decades on the pump, you've already beat me to customizing the pump music on the Ping. Good for you. I wish you the best of luck!
I had the same sort of reaction to a pump, everything got much easier and fell into place like a charm. I also discovered the DOC when I got my pump, trying to find out more about how to use it and it was great to run into folks who were approaching diabetes the same way I was...
