Omnipod alarms

Alright, so I tried the omnipod demo pod and I thought it was o.k. But I have one major question. Can you turn alarms off? And do they go off. Because I prefer for my alarm not to go off in the middle of an exam or class, then everyone knows you have diabetes-_- I like the discretion of the pod but the alarms worry me. also give any reviews about your omnipod!! Please and thank you:)

Hello! I just started the omnipod about a month ago from MDI and I totally love it. It allows me to be very precise with my dosage and I like having more control over my basal delivery.

You can set all the alarms to vibrate, with the exception of the pod expiration alarm. That said, the default on the pod expiration alarm is 12 hours, but you can change that to 2 hours before. Depending on when you change your pod, this could prevent the alarm going off in the middle of your classes. For me, the pod beeps the morning I'm going to change it, once I acknowledge the alarm on my PDM, I go about my morning routine (or back to sleep) until it beeps again to tell the pod has "expired." (you actually have an additional 8 hours after it "expires")

I know you posted before..but were you able to set the post-pod change blood sugar check alarm to vibrate? Just trying to think of all the fun stuff i'll get to do when/if I get my new PDM....4 boxes of pods just waiting to be used...haha

I've got all mine turned off, except of course the expire alarms which can't be turned off. I have fun with them though. A well timed alarm can be a real kick if you're in the right place at the right time... ;)

Mine only alarms before expiry and if there’s an occlusion. As death and DKA are indiscreet, I’m happy with the beeps.

I have only flown with my pump twice..but..I keep thinking the occlusion alarm while going through molestation..errr..security..and on the actual flight would be interesting

Yes. The post pod change BG check is set to vibrate, and it usually only vibrates when I turn the PDM on. Kind of a no-brainer reminding me to check my BG when I've already turned my PDM on to check my BG.

Does the occlusion alarm go off right away or a couple minutes later?
