So I just have to share...We were recently given a new meter...an Accu-Check...and used the lancing device that came with it. It's an Accu-Chek fast clix. I tried it on my finger on the lowest setting...and didn't even feel it poke me. I thought that it hadn't worked until I saw a little bit of blood come off my finger. I wanted to share this for any other parent of a little one or anyone who hasn't tried it. Hopefully this post finds someone who is need of a pain-free poker :)
I've used the Accu-Chek Compact for 7 years now. The lancing device attaches to the meter and the drum holds 17 strips. In effect the system is self contained. You don't have to carry around six different objects to be gathered and assembled each time you need a BG reading. Reliability is very good and readings compare well between meters - less than 5 pt difference.
I use this with my OmniPod. You can always seem to find a free deal where they will send a meter and the lancet comes with it. Even paying out of pocket for the lancet barrels is not terrible. Target I think comes up at about $7 for 300+
By far, these are the best "stickers" :)
I use the FastClix too and used the Multiclix before that for quite some time. Best lancing devices in my book! :)
