The short yet intense workouts from crossfit accompanied with the low carb/GI diet via Paleo have seemed to keep my blood sugars in check (compared to my years as a competitive swimmer with no pump and long workouts where I would have to take several doses of Gatorade just to keep my sugar elevated).

Excellent. I started doing crossfit starting September last year and love the workouts. I like the fact that everyday is new challenge and found my insulin need drop a bit after the workout. The only issues I have with crossfit is that I lost some weight (muscle) after starting crossfit. The muscle loss didn't resonate will with me. Taking a break from crossfit this month and hitting gym to gain some bulk.
I am 5'11" and 160lbs with body fat of <10%...so nothing much to loose here.
