Parents of Adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes (11-17 years old) Research

First and foremost, thank you so much to those of you who have expressed interest in my research and have participated in my study. Unfortunately, the turnout for this study has been very low, so I am still desperately in need of parents of adolescents with type 1 and the adolescents themselves (dx more than one year ago) to complete surveys (2 surveys within each family: 1 for the child and 1 for the parent - be sure to use the same user name so that I can link the data!). Your contributions are what make important research possible!

If you are interested in participating, or have more questions, please feel free to email me at gleibach@bates.edu. I have previously discussed the terms of my study with the administration at TuDiabetes, and it has been successfully verified. I hope that you decide to participate if your child is eligible!

Thank you very much!

Fact is, I wish I could help out but my boy is too young. I would suggest that you pair up with on of the major hospitals, specifically the pediatric specialty group at Maine Medical Center. They are treating my son who unfortunately (for you, not me) is only 18 months old. If you contact them and tell them what you’re doing and see if they’ll help you make contact with parents (probably by acting as your intermediary) it might give you better turnout. Would also suggest you try even further afield than Maine–contact the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, they probably could help.

I just recently became a member, my daughter is turning 13 next week and has had type one gonig on 7 years now…are you still in need of participants?

My daughter just turned 11 and was diagnosed when she was seven. As long as the research has nothing to do with needles we would be interested.
