Ping vs Paradigm

I have been on the minimed paradigm 522 for 7 years and I am due for a new one. My doctor mentioned the Animas and I looked into it, it seems pretty cool. I have to pay 20% of the cost and that is $856 for the Paradigm and I was wondering if anyone recently got a Ping and knows the cost?

Also, can even give me pro’s and con’s? Is it the same size? How is the service?

Thanks
Heidi

Well I am new to the whole pump thing so I cannot be much help with the comparisons but I can tell you I just received one Tues. and it is so cool. It has so many features and does not look medical at all. It is the size of an Ipod and that is what it looks like too. You don’t have to bolous with it, you can be in public and use your meter and no one knows you are dosing. Plus it calculates your doses for you. I looked into them all and was completely sold on this one. Not to offend no one else’s I just love this one. I think you will too. My insurance paid 100% of my ping so I don’t know what you would be left with but you can give them your insurance info and they will do all the looking up with no obligation. They are a wonderful bunch of people. You can call them at 1-800-937-7867 Happy Pumping and good luck.

I got a ping in January. Pretty nice. But it is my first pump so I can’t really compare. Pump and first 3 months of supplies came to “Roughly” $6000. My copay was 10% and I remember paying about $600. Hope it helps!

Evey insurance company has their own negotiated price for the pump. Animas or your insurance company should be able to give you your cost estimate. My 20% was pretty equal to your Minimed quote.

All that said, the Ping rocks!
