I don’t really know what to say, unless I know…

How long have you been using the Omnipod?
What about the Omnipod is discouraging you?

I agree. It’s kind of hard to give encouragement unless you know what type of encouragement is needed. I love my Omnipod, but everyone is different. Let me know what is discouraging to you and I will try to help.

Hi Mfy
I really hate to say this because I love the OmniPod and wanted one so badly. My doc wants me on a pump and we talked over everything and i chose the Pod. We faxed in my paperwork in October , 2008. I waited and waited. In January i wrote them a message and gave them one more week to make up their minds. I got a call the next day telling me I had been approved and my pump was on it’s way and woujld be here in 5 to 7 days. this was January 5th. On january 28th I still had no pump. I called my insurance company to ask if they were holding up my claim. There was no claim, no rerquest, no information, nothing. I called Insulet and cancelled my request for a pump. Since then I have talked to several people (at OmniPod) who say they will get me a pump and send it to me. I can give them a credit card number and get reimbursed from the insurance company. It broke my heart but i said no. I cannot trust a company that does not give truthful or good serivice i can depend on. I have since looked at other pumps and have another one in the works, but have to jump through all the blood work and paper hassle to get approved first. It simply isn’t enough that the doctor writes the order and explains why I need it. I wish you well in your effort to get a Pod. And i really hope it goes well for you. I understand that the person who was supposed to take care of my order (request) is not working with that company anymore. And i think the OmniPod is an excellent choice. I just hope you have someone better to help you. Good luck.

Mfy-

What’s going on with your Pod and whats discouraging you? I want to encourage but you didnt state whats going on. I started using the Pod in May 2008. I wanted to stop using it a few weeks after I rec’d it but I was told by a few TuD traditional pump users to give it a chance, be patient. I wasn’t having issues with the Pod malfunctioning it was bg control. After a month or so of using the Pod everything evened itself out. I’m not going to tell you that I haven’t had a pod that didn’t malfuction or the Pdm stop working. I’m just saying it does suck when a pod fails, it sucks when the PdM resets itself for some unexplained reason. It’s made by a human, we all know anything man made is subject to fail at some point thats why evwrythinb comes witb a warrenty.
I choose the Pod because it fit my life style. When I put on a shirt and can barely see anything. I can the floor with my 3 year old and not worry about tubing, I can wear an after five dress without worrying about having a pouch to put my pump in. I choose the pod for freedom and I wouldn’t change it for the world. It’s a give and take type of thing. You either love the pod or you hate it. It’s your choice. Make a list of the Pro’s and Con’s of Podding, decide from there. I can only speak for myself but the OmniPod rocks in my book.
