Protecting the Face of my Dexcom

The face of my Dexcom is fairly scratched after just 3-4 months of use. Does anyone have some suggestions on a face cover for the Dex?

I keep the Dex in a cargo pocket of my shorts during the summer and I’m afraid that just the rubbing around in there is causing the mild scratching on the face. I love keeping the Dex in the pocket, but just want to see if anyone else has this problem.

I was just noticing this on my son’s Dexcom, and he’s only had it about a month. I think I’m going to buy some of the screen protectors that you can get for things like GPS screens and cut one to cover the Dex screen. It works well on my camera and my GPS.

There is a “sports cover” which you can buy from Dexcom. Although I don’t have it, some people say it works REALLY well. There is another alternative, Natasha’s idea – and I have a large piece of “laptop skin” which does a really great job. It will last longer than the life of the Receiver battery, and I can mail away about 5 more sets of Dexcom covers. before I need to buy another large “skin”.

You send me a SASE with $3, I send you pieces for the front and back. The $3 goes towards the purchase of another “skin”, after this one is all used up. This is fully explained by my post making the offer. If your treatment of the Dexcom is really rough, you need to cover both sides: the yellow sticker on the back WILL start to shred in little horizontal slices, and become unreadable. But covering the back also creates an opportunity to put a little piece of paper on the back, next to the label, with your phone number and the word “reward” – similarly protected from EVER becoming damaged or unreadable. You want that on there!!!

Send me a friend request; I’ll accept it and send you my address back (as a “private message”). Here’s my original post about it:

I know that tudiabetes “search” is difficult to use effectively. (We need an “advanced search” page.) It’s not surprising that you were both unable to find that post by searching with the one-line, no-options tool in the upper corner.

I have the “sports cover” for my Dexcom and it does protect the face of the Dexcom very well. It has clear plastic over the entire front surface, a zipper that goes half way around the case (so the receiver can be inserted and removed when necessary with ease, and the back half of the cover is slightly cushioned. It slides in and out of my jeans pocket very easily. The sports cover also has a clip on the back so you can clip it to your waistband or belt if desired. The color is black if that is important to you, I think I paid about $20 for it.

I would recommend the “sports cover” if you are looking for a durable, yet soft case. I’ve had mine about six months or more.
