I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with higher glucose numbers due to pump site bleeding. I have been pumping for over 8 years but recently I notice that every other time I change a site my numbers act like I’m not getting any insulin. After I change my site I tend to bleed in the spot where the pump site was. I usually run every morning and change my site after, and have recently had some success with icing down my stomach (my main area for my pump site) before insertion, but I still seem to have issues. I have scars as well in my stomach and am careful to avoid them but nothing seems to work. Does anyone else deal with this? Does anyone else have any ideas? Thanks!
What sets / pump are you using? I had the same issue (bleeding / higher bgs) and thought it was from hitting veins in my stomach. I ended up switching MM sets from the quick set (6mm) to the silhouette. Things are swell now. However if I hit 4 days I notice some resistance and BGs start to elivate slightly.
I was having a similar problem and also switched to a longer needle that goes straight in. I found that the sites aren’t as sore anymore either…the top layers of skin have more veins and are sensitive. I hope this helps!
I use Cleo Infusion sets and I have never had any bleeding for 4 years now. The tubing is plastic so maybe that may make a difference? I just thought that I would share with you what I use and have not ever had a problem yet…
