Help! OmniPod or Animas? Tubeless must be great! I’m a woman so need woman’s thoughts too - quickly, please. Opinions?
This is only my opinion from my experience. I’ve never used an omni pod. I have a pink Ping, and love it. I worried about the tubing, but with a little playing around and experience it’s turned into a non-issue. I usually wear it on my waistband, but can stick it in my bra, in a baby sock safety pinned to the inside of a skirt, etc. I’ve even tucked it into the back of my panties.
I don’t like the profile of the omnipod - the sample I saw stuck out way too much for me. The infusion sets for the Ping are virtually flat. I’m not crazy about the remote because it’s b & w and a little tough to read sometimes despite the backlight. I love that it’s waterproof, seems to be drop-proof so far, has very small increments possible for basals/boluses. The pump has been life-changing for me, and the dexcom even more so.
Thanks. I was hoping to hear from a girl. No offense, guys.
Laura, let me know what you decide. If it’s a Ping I can give you tons more tips.Good luck!
Only going from the many posts here that OmniPods have a lot of failures.
Omni Pod here. They are great. With the omni pod you can wear those cute sun dresses and not have to worry about tubing popping out. Although sometimes they do have problems, I have heard of people having more problems with the “tubed” pumps. People talk of bent tubing, no CGM compatibly (which omni pod will be coming out with soon), more difficult manual insertion (omnipod remotely inserts the canula)…just to name a few. With the omni pod you do not have to remove for bathing or swimming. Also, the omni pod you can use the PDM (the remote controlled device) to bolous, so removing the pump from your baby sock pouch…which can be strange if your sitting in a restaurant, would not happen. I love the omni pod soo much! Like they say, “making diabetes a smaller part of your life”
Thanks for the advice! Though I can’t say I’ve decided yet. I have enough trouble with bad sensors on my DEXCOM so I don’t really want anymore of that. Yet I like the one spot on the body-type thing with the pump. I’m hoping this is a good idea. After so long, I’m sure tired of getting poked! LOL
I have done both the omni pod and anamis…
Animas: Its small so its barley noticable, Screen doesnt get cracked easy, The company doesnt get PO if u need another pump cuz the screen is turning pretty color
Omni Pod: Tubeless, Bulky, Have to worry about haveing to make sure u have the meeter with u at all times and i went through 3 omni pods in less then a year cuz the screen cracked or turned pretty colors for no reason. Finally the company told us next time something like that happend WE had to buy the pump so we went back to the animas
I do hate a bad customer service company…
