My family doctor put me on Rabperzole again. I searched my old posts and, no Rabperzole doesn’t seem to work for me but pantoprazole did. I’ve been having acid reflux for about two months now. My oesophagus andthe membranes in my mouth and my teeth are extremely sore. Just like last time. If I don’t get any positive results. On Monday morning, I am going to call my doctor again and tell him that I was on pantoprazole and it worked in 2021. On Monday, it will be three days since I’ve been taking two a day and it says that you should feel better within 2 to 3 days. I don’t know why my doctor didn’t have any record of this pill not working? Regardless I’m going to make a call.
They don’t have records of anything, Dee. Don’t let this fall by the wayside. Acid reflux can result in a lot of serious damage.
I won’t by Monday if I don’t feel any better I’m going to call the doctor and remind him that I was on Rabperzole before in 2021 and it didn’t work then.
It is so bad that the acid is going in behind my eyes and causing light sensitivity. I guess I will have to wait till Monday to get any help.
I think I will call on Monday regardless because this drug didn’t work for me before and it has gone on too long. Since the beginning of December. The last time it happened was in 2021 with the same result.
Do it, Dee. You know what’s up.
I will. Even if I have to copy my previous post about being on this medicine and send it to him. This has been going on since the beginning of September. Everything is sore. My neck, teeth, tongue and throat. Enough complaining. I am just so fed up with this!!! Please pray for me. Thankyou!
Have you tried taking ginger? A GI recommended taking ginger 4 times a day. You can buy capsules at Walmart. Or you can buy the ginger spice at the grocery and mix it in juice. Or you can buy the ginger spice & place it in empty capsules.
Yes, I take it all. I am also on a probiotic. I take a ginger capsule 3xa day.
I saw my family doctor today. He put me on the ppi that worked before when I had acid reflux. That was in 2021. I hope and pray that it will work the same way it did last time. Last time I felt better within 2 days. I can at least see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Dee, also make sure you don’t lie down or even recline for at least 2 hours after eating. If you have GERD, the pantaprazole will eliminate the acid, but you’re still gonna have some reflux, so you want your stomach to be mostly empty before you lie down.
Yes. I know all the triggers. After supper my stomach got really upset. I had to drink water to swallow food down as my windpipe is really dry from the acid. I also had really bad reflux. They say with pantoprazole you should start feeling better within two days. That is one of my worst death wishes is that the pantoprazole won’t work properly this time. I am just really scared.
As a former president used to say, I feel your pain. I’ve had GERD for decades. Used to have a decent singing voice, but years of reflux has damaged my vocal folds so badly I can’t even sing on tune anymore. Ended up in an ambulance twice thinking I was having a heart attack when it turned out to be an esophageal stricture.
I take omeprazole twice a day, which eliminates the acid, but the reflux doesn’t go away because the sphincter muscle between the stomach and esophagus is waek, so foodcan still come back up. One of the things that helps me (if I remember to do it and have the time) is taking really small bites of food, chewing super well, AND taking a small sip of liquids between each bite.
Hopefully the pantoprazole will work again.
And I drink Ginger tea–same reasons. It does seem to help…
I take a ginger capsule before every .meal. Today Will be day two. Last night after I had dinner, my stomach got really upset and I had a lot of gas and acid. I got a little panicky when it wasn’t working after dinner, but when I googled it, it said that you should start to feel better within 2 to 3 days so then I started to relax a little bit. I didn’t get to bed till like about 11:30 last night but I slept really well. So far, I’ve had a little bit of acid, but nothing like what I’ve had before. I think the pill is starting to work a little bit.
I am going to avoid coffee and tomato things for a little while just until I heal. But yes, I chew and my food and eat very slowly because of the gastroparesis. I’m gonna do everything I can to avoid getting that again because it man it is really painful and distressing.
It’s ok to take more than one ginger capsule at a time. I don’t know anything negative about ginger. Take the amount that helps you feel better.
Dee…when I first started having heartburn in my 20s, I found that switching to decaf helped. But I don’t think it’s actually the caffeine that causes it, because I can still drink super strong black tea with no problem. My guess is that coffee has some sort of acid in it that gets removed when they decaffeinate it. Weird!
I have read that the darker the coffee, the less acidic it is. I drink Maxwell house, dark roast coffee, but I’m not going to be drinking coffee until I fully recover as my windpipe and my teeth and my whole body is very sore. This bout with acid reflux has lasted fairly long about three months and it’s got my mouth, extremely sore and my teeth. I think I ate a little too much supper this this evening as my stomach feels very full and I’m getting a little bit of acid that is coming up. They say that the practice of eating your largest meal at supper is a bad idea, especially with people with digestive problems. I am only 86 pounds so I guess I have to eat more at lunch and decrease the amount of supper I eat.
Try taking more ginger. I promise you’ll feel better.
I It is 10:30 PM and I’m still up. The acid seems to be worse at night. It burns my mouth and it hurts my teeth and my tongue burns too. I keep praying and praying and praying to God that
He will help stop the acid, but it’s not working I am extremely frustrated. I was doing a little bit better today until the evening comes.
Tomorrow supper for sure is going to be very, very small.
I really feel for you, Dee. I’ve never had gastroparesis, but before I got the GERD under control, I had many nights like that. You have my greatest sympathy. Sending hugs,
Ruth
