We went to Hershey Park today. This was the first amusement park experience since my son was diagnosed. I was curious as to how this would effect his numbers. I asked some twitter friends and got different opinions... some say it didn't effect them much and other said it would increase from the excitement then level off due to the exercise.
Well ... he woke up a little on the high side.....out to eat the night before. Then corrected and dosed breakfast. Then we went to the park. He hung out w/his dad....had glucotabs if he needed them....and off the went to ride every rollercoaster they could find!
I stayed with his younger brother and rode the tamer rides.
We met at lunch time. I had no idea what his numbers would be....on the cell phone he always sounded good. So ...we sat down to eat and he took his number....329 and flashing KEYTONES! OMG he hasn't been that high....since I can't remember!!! So he corrected using the regular formula...and dosed for his pizza and dipn dots then went back in search for roller coasters!
Exhausted from all the walking and in the car to start the 2 and a half hour ride home...he checked his number and was 79. I wanted him to have a "real" snack...he decided to eat 5 glucotabs instead cuz he wasn't hungry. Then we decided to eat at a restaurant that was 1 and a half hours away. Well...got there and it was too long of a wait...so hunted for another one....
He got angry...snapping at me and his brother....I told him to check his number.... 59! Wanted him to have the choc. covered pretzels but he wanted more tabs...then we sat down at a not crowded restaurant and he finally ate 'real' food......for the first time in 7 hrs!!!
Lesson learned.... Gluco tabs aren't food! Don't skip snack time.... and Rollercoaster rides...provide rollercoaster bgs!!!!
So... the roller coaster had a high of 329 and a low of 59!! Weeeeeeeeee
