I’m sure this has already been mentioned before but since we’re new to the pod and the freestyle strips I just found this and thought I would share. If you go to this website you can sign up for the freestyle promise program and save on your test strips. I usually have a $60/month co-pay(accu- cheks are preferred by our insc) and with this membership card I saved $45 and only had to pay $15! Quite a savings as we all know how expensive(even with insc) it is to have diabetes. You just bring the card to your local pharmacy and they will do the rest, mine says it’s good through June 2011. You are also able to get a free meter with the card too!
Awesome, I didn’t know about this. Thanks.
Thanks… I just joined!!
The Promise Program can also be used by those of us using mail order pharmacies. Call the Promise Program and they will mail you a rebate form you can mail in to get reimbursed. I pay $60 for 3 months of test strips from the mail order pharmacy and receive $45 back from the promise program. When you receive your rebate check in the mail, you will receive a rebate form for your next order.
This can also be done retroactive for the mail orders for (up to a month I believe). I found out about the program being applicable to mail orders a month after I ordered. I called the Promise program, mailed my receipt in with the form and got a check in the mail in under 2 weeks.
Thanks Nicole, that was the one thing I was wondering about. My insurance tried getting me to switch recently but there is no way I’m carrying around my PDM and a different meter.
Thanks for posting this, it’s good info. You also have phone access to diabetes educators and (I think) pharmacists.
I have a high deductible plan and 3 mos of strips on mail order costs me 490.00 with the Freestyle Program. I don’t think we are going to have this health insurance all this year so I’m not willing to put lots of $$$$$ towards the deductible so I searched for cheaper alternatives. Cheapest Freestyle strips I could find online (non ebay or amazon) was Total Diabetes Supply for 48.99 for 100 strips. You can get $10 off a $100 order with a coupon code found on Diabetes Daily (under the “directory” tab). Shipping is free if your order is $100 or more (after the coupon). I was looking at the WalMart strips as an alternative but this online deal was only $3 more per 50 strips vs the Walmart ones so I thought it was worth the little extra for the convenience of not lugging around a meter and having to manually input the readings.
I also went out to Novolog website to see if they offer any help and it appears that they do. Here is the website to get the information. http://www.novolog.com/reimbursement-default.asp?s=pn
Great info … thanks!
Update, just “in case” anyone wants to order Freestyle strips from Total Diabetes Supply. I got my order last night and they are the NEW ZipWik FreeStyle strips!!! This is not what is pictured online and the description does not state they are the new ones. I called the FreeStyle Promise Program last night to confirm that these strips should not be used in the PDM and they confirmed this. They are sending me the correct ones and a postage paid mailer to return those strips to them. Fantastic! Now that’s customer service.
