Hi guys , new here I’m actually glad I found this group. So I have a question not sure if anyone could help but figured I would throw it out there incase someone had a way to get a coupon . My daughter lost her Dexcom G7 - I called Dexcom but they said that they would not replace it. Has anyone gone through this if so what did you do?
A little clarity is needed, do you mean she lost her G7 receiver. If so there may be someone here that can give their’s up. I don’t use mine, but it is considered the durable medical equipment by Medicare and there is a remote possibility they will want it back at some time.
If she has a smart phone she might be able to use the Dexcom app. Not all phones are capable, iPhone is and I think most Android phones.
Hi sorry yes her receiver. She doesn’t have a phone. My daughter has Down syndrome so she’s with me 24/7 but we were at the park and I guess she lost it, went back and could not find it. It would have been a good idea to place a smart tag on it had I thought of that
Oh that would be great. I don’t think they would ask for it back not sure, she had the freestyle previously and they have not. But I completely understand if you want to wait. I don’t know if you would trust me enough to have me use it and if they need it back I would send it back to them…
I’ll think about it, but let’s wait a bit someone may have less concerns. I’m actually not particularly worried.
Send me a message with your name & mailing address. Click on my name and you’ll be able to send a private message.
Do this now as I live in the country and have an appointment tomorrow in town. We like to make every trip take care of multiple stuff.
One other tip, where does she keep the receiver?
There’s a nice little belt pouch meant for pumps called Spibelt. The receiver fits perfectly in it. I gave my Spibelts away.
Oh great !! I’ll look into it now. I’m also going to place a tag on it that can be tracked. I just read on another forum that a mom had her daughter lose hers as well but she was smart and placed her name and phone number in the back incase it was ever found.
I don’t know why we sometimes have to run into an issue to realize what we should have obviously done.
To @Eric and all who see this. I decided to send @Didi my receiver. It is ready to go tomorrow. I just couldn’t stand it that Didi and her daughter are without a tool that I have no use for.
Thank you !!! Thank you !!! I can not tell you how appreciative I am and how blessed I feel to have found this amazing group!! Thank you to everyone who had taken the time to read this post !!!
If you are still looking for a receiver I have 3 new ones never been used. Reply to this and I can send you one out. Do not use them. I use the pump and phone. Let me know. Al Olmstead
It’s GREAT that AI115 is willing to send you one. When I was with a private supplier the would send me a new reciever every two years. I now use both. My phone and the reciever. The reciever sets on the dash of the car and the phone doesn’t get touched untill I don driving. I have a save driver App that take points away when handling the phone
Yes, so many kind people here !! Luis3 was kind enough to send me one we was not using. This group is great.. it’s so nice to know that you can still find good people around..
Good day, I’m new to the forum- was looking for tips to fix my malfunctioning G7 receiver. I called Dexcom and it’s 1 month out of warranty. You posted that you have an extra. Would you be willing to sell it?
The Dexcom receivers only last 13 months, well that’s how long mine worked. They go out of warranty at 1 year. Cheaper, far cheaper, is to buy a $35 phone and load the Dexcom app to it. If the Dexcom version won’t work because Tim Cook has paid them to sponsor his product use xDrip+; free and infinitely more functionality (though I admit that may be functionality overload for most of the world.)
If you are in the US and on Medicare the receivers last 3 years; Medicare pays a lot for them. Your Medicare G7 supplier will very happily send you a new receiver (they get a lot of money from that.)
There are very good reasons for using the receiver and not the app; so far as I can tell the receiver is not able to upload our BG data to Dexcom. The app, last time I used it, wouldn’t start unless you consented to “share” your data. Like I “share” my money.
The $35 'phone solution with xDrip+ is the best bet, unless you are in the US on Medicare in which case you have no choice but the receiver, however it is free (since we already paid for it.)
