I’ve been toying around with the idea of starting a diabetes-related blog. This would not only be an outlet to express some of my own personal thoughts and feelings, but could also help me catch-up in the world of social media and perhaps web-design.
I know there are very many of them out there (and many of them are very good), but I’m not sure if we need yet another place to see the ramblings of a T1D. Would you be interested in another one starting up, and if so, what kind of focus do you think I should take? What would interest you?
- Lighthearted accounts of my trials and tribulations of life with T1D. (diabetes-focused)
- Same as above, but more family focused, where D just rears its ugly head every now and again.
- A rundown of the latest news, research, and findings involving diabetes
- Picking one particular news story of the day, either high-profile or obscure (either about research, or about someone else in the news with D) and editorializing on it
First and foremost, I want it to be something that people would be willing to read and discuss - perhaps with a little controversial debate going on. I also want to make sure that there is enough topical material out there, because nothing frustrates me more than checking a blog that hasn’t been updated for weeks or months. (That’s an exaggeration… plenty of things frustrate me more than that!). I have no agenda: I don’t plan to persistently attack the healthcare system, the food-service industry, the pharmaceutical business, etc. My purpose would be to keep readers entertained, informed, and engaged, not angry.
I tend to lean in a particular direction, but I’d like to know what you think. I’ll share my ideas a bit later.
