Snack ideas to help with morning sickness

Hi there,

I’m T1 and 8 weeks pregnant with my second baby and am struggling with nausea more this time than my last pregnancy. I find eating helps and I try to avoid getting hungry, so I usually have a snack at my post-prandial BG check. I’ve been eating a lot of crackers and cheese, granola bars and toast with peanut butter. Sometimes I’ll have a diabetic boost (like glucerna).

Does any one have any suggestions for how they’ve coped with diabetes and morning sickness? If it wasn’t for diabetes I’d probably be nibbling on some snack 24/7!

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Jen

I don’t have any suggestions, but I am 8 weeks today and battling nausea as well, mostly AFTER I eat. My blood sugars have been a little crazy this last week, so I hate adding MORE carbs to my system when I can’t get my blood sugars in range. It’s mostly Saltines and sparkling water for me…

Ugh yes this part was the WORST! You feel like you don’t want to eat but on the other hand nibbling every hour or two helps you feel better but of course bc of diabetes you cannot snack whenever you please. I ate nature valley almond crunch bars they were good and 13 carbs and Atkins shakes love the Strawberry and Vanilla ones and only 1 carb! String cheese, LANCE 6 pk of peanut butter crackers 19 carbs.

Thanks for those suggestions. I’m going to find those almond crunch bars - 13 g of carbs is good for a granola bar - and the atkins shakes. The boosts are 16g, but 1g is even better!

I hope the nausea is getting better for you. Mine seems to be a little better. What’s your due date? Mine is February 2nd. I suspect I’ll go a little early and make it a January baby. My first was 37 weeks and 1 day.
