Sugar addicts

That takes chutzpah (and misplaced ingenuity)!

I recently heard a mom on the playground tell her child he needed a snack because he was grouchy and “hypoglycemic.” I basically had to put my hand over my mouth to make sure I didn’t say something snarky.

I would have needed two hands.

And some duct tape…

My daughter-in-law uses the word hangry to describe her hungry, grouchy (angry) kiddo–really apt!

Hey guys,

I use “hangry” also…but it is towards non-diabetics. Let’s face it…normal people get hungry and cranky. We get hungry and we get shaky, sweaty, sleepy. I think I would like “us” better.

Probably my biggest tongue biter is when people who have no idea wtf hypoglycemia is or what causes it (including fellow diabetics who don’t take serious hypo causing drugs) dare talk about hypoglycemia

there is only one cure, leave these on your bedside table.

No mercy. Get her to a doc for some testing of blood sugar #s…Tell her she has to move out if that behavior continues. Stealing your emergency supply that literally can save your life is NOT an act of friendship…

Please remember that diabetes impacts every cell in our bodies. If this woman is a friend, as well as a roommate, then you need to be patient and Teach her—but you do NOT get to allow her to threaten your life…

It’s hard, I know. But really, what she did is not forgivable, given the Diabolic Whimsey of our common scourge…Be safe, sweetie. So much of our dealing with The D is about self-management—that means you are in charge!..But you can do it!..Blessings…Judith in Portland…
