I am a student at Claremont Graduate University and I am currently doing some research in the area of diabetes treatments and how to improve the way treatment information is provided to patients.
As part of a study project, I am looking for volunteers of at least 18 years old, diagnosed with diabetes and who have followed at least one diabetes treatment. The participants will be asked about their opinions on diabetes treatments with the purpose of having a better understanding of how new treatments can be designed in order to suit diabetic needs.
The duration of this study should not be more than 20 minutes.
The participation in this research study is anonymous, free of risk and cost. The information provided in this survey is confidential and will only be used within the scope of an academic research study. Should the data of this questionnaire be published, no individual information will be disclosed. No information in this survey should allow to directly identify you. If you have any questions or would like additional information about this study, please contact Guillaume Faddoul at guillaume.faddoul@cgu.edu.
I filled out the survey (T2) and when it asked what treatment guidelines I was following the only options were diet or exercise. Nothing about medications or insulin which was confusing. I wasn’t sure how to capture what treatment I was commenting upon.
I think surveys like this can be really helpful, but there is a real art and science to making a good one. The last sentence of this paragraph would seem to contradict the previous comments about confidentiality and anonymity.
daytona, More options should indeed appear on your screen. We are investigating this issue.
Can you please tell us if used a computer or smartphone/tablet to fill out the survey ?
Done. I’m not sure how I feel about a “virtual” diabetes assistant in my day to day management of diabetes, but I’m willing to give things like this a try.
daytona, thank you for this explanation. As we are here trying to study some specific elements of diabetes treatments, some decisions were made about which elements to include in this survey.
If you feel that Medication/Insulin should be an option part of this question, please select the answer that you feel is the closest to it.
I suspect part of the issue will be who is behind the Virtual Assistant (real diabetes doctors/CDEs, pharma, your health insurance plan), how accurate and up-to-date its information, whether or not your job/lifestyle allows you to pay attention to its notifications (mine very definitely does not), and whether it can be personalized to your specific dietary and medical needs.
