I am thinking of getting a tattoo for my "type 2 D " . I have a couple of concerns:
How do you know someone is certified? clean? ETC.
Will I heal well.
Do dermatologist do medical tattoos??
I would put this on my left arm. Thanks for your thoughts,Nancy
I guess no one has had a tattoo?? Thanks,Nancy
tattoos and diabetics are none issues. get the ink, it will hurt. put some A&D ointment on it. it will heal. enjoy.
I got a tat as a diabetic and there wasn't any adverse effects. i was in the chair for about 2 hours and everything was cool. my back hurt like hell afterwards but all is good.
i probably would avoid body locations where you inject/pump sites thou.
Thank you. Nancy
I don't think that it hurts as much as tickles although the one I got recently was more painful, the guy was working really fast, maybe that made a difference? The inking is pretty dark too. I think that if your A1C is ok, you should be fine. If your control is all over the place, you can have problems healing. This might be exacerbated in a low circulation area, like your feet or whatever but I'm not 100% sure. I've never heard of anyone having problems with one. There's an inked diabetics group here that's not super active but people get ink and share it and all that and it's fun....
I have a tattoo, unrelated to my diabetes. I chose my studio based off of yelp reviews and my friends' experience. It hurt but it was so worth it! Dermatologists don't do tattoos, tattoos are art not medicine!!! I healed just fine, follow the instructions given to you by the artist. And I would have a 15 carb snack before you get inked since the process strains the body and can cause low blood sugar if you're not used to it
