Time for a change

Hey everyone im looking for a new meter, what do you all suggest? Ill be paying for it on my own along with the test strips. Last few months i have been using just the true2go ones from walgreens or what ever else but was using a few different kinds over the years. But i need something better and im able to do that now.

Thanks for any help and or advice!

Hi Mark. I use the One Touch Ultra Mini. It’s quick, easy and compact. It requires a very small sample so I don’t get any error reports. Joanne

Another OneTouch Ultra Mini user here! In truth, though, I haven’t used any other meter. That having been said, I really like it.

I like my One Touch MIni for a backup. I do prefer a One Touch Ultra 2 (or my Link) for most of the time, since their results can be downloaded by my endo’s office. I found the inexpensive brands such as true2go to be off 20 points from my One Touches, which means that they’re close to useless for me.

I just recently replaced my meter because I lost mine when I got out of the car to shut the door that wasn’t quite closed a couple of weeks ago. I had the Freestyle Lite and got another one because I like the small size and the small sample size it requires. The sample size is actually much smaller that the One Touch meters. The other feature that I really like about the Freestyle is that it waits up to a minute for you to get the sample instead of the 5 second timeout that the One Touch has. At one point I was using the One Touch, and I remember wasting many strips because the sample wouldn’t take right away, and the timeout would occur - then the error.

Another thing you can watch for is many times, meter companies will give you a “free” meter when you buy 100 strips. I didn’t have to dish out any cash for my replacement meter because I bought the 100 strips - which I burn through pretty quickly anyway, and got the new meter.

I use One Touch Ultra Mini. I have 3: first floor house, in purse, & downstairs treadmill.

I’ve been using the Accuchek Aviva for years. NO complaints! But I would concur that the best indication is the price of strips if you’re buying them yourself.
