Tiny bit about myself

So I’ve been meaning to write a little bit about myself and I choose now. 12:15 in the A.M.while everyone in the house is asleep and I’m trying to do last minute homework, talking to the BF, and watching Cake Boss getting inspired to work. But this is who I am. So like I said, this is really just gonna be a little bit about myself. Well, I am 20 years old. I go to school at South Texas College in Weslaco, TX. There I am taking my basics until I go to Houston hopefully to study my major in Culinary Arts. I have always loved Culinary Arts. It’s what I’m good at, it makes me happy. Actually, I love all arts. I love drawing, painting, singing (although I’m not that great at it), and especially dancing. I work at a Police Dept. here in the valley as a clerk. Merely answering phones, and I may not like working there (I am not a desk person, personally) I am glad I do. It is where I met the love of my life. He is my world and I would be nowhere without him. He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes just 2 weeks before I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He is very supportive and understands what I am going through. There is one thing that is really bugging me. I do live in the Rio Grande Valley, and here people are so very nonchalant about diabetes. Like it’s no big deal, merely because it’s very, very common in mexicans. So people are very “oh diabetes, ok, that must suck.” Like it really pisses me off. It’s hard cause i never thought i would be diagnosed and now that i am, i realize, here in the valley, there is no awareness for diabetes. I feel like ii should start something to raise that awareness. Well there was one thing i heard about. It was the walk for diabetes but it was in early October. I remember trying to talk to a professor at school once, who always does beast cancer awareness and lung cancer awareness, and other things like that, and i mentioned to her about the diabetes one and she just said “oh really, oh.” And it aggravated me. well now my yawns are getting more frequent. So this was just a tiny bit about myself, if you have any questions or just wanna talk hit me up, ask away. Anyway talk to you later! Love Ashley

Thanks for introducing yourself Ashley!

It would be GREAT if you could start raising awareness about diabetes in your community! I bet you can get many great ideas from people in this community!
