Type 2 Panelists Needed for Behavioral Diabetes Institute (SAN DIEGO residents only)

Judith just sent me this…

FOR SAN DIEGO RESIDENTS ONLY - We are looking for an additional 2-3 people with TYPE 2 diabetes who might be interested in being a panelist for our evening discussion of the experience of being diagnosed with diabetes. We are looking for people within the first 5 years of having diabetes who have a story to tell about how they were told (good or bad) and how they reacted to that news. We need panelists for the 9/24th AND 9/25th from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The first night is for medical providers and we will be having this event at a local restaurant (TBD). The second night is for patients and will be held at Scripps Whittier Institute in La Jolla. We are looking for the panelists to take about 10 - 15 minutes to tell their story of diagnosis: These are the questions we are wanting them to address: How were you told and what was your emotional reaction? How did you manage your disease at first? What do you know now you wish you knew then? What helped? What could have been done better by your medical team? What advice do you have for providers/patients dealing with the new diagnosis?

We can offer a small gift certificate to each participant for his or her participation. Feel welcome to forward this message to someone you know with Type 2 diabetes who may be interested in participating. Please let us know if you might be interested in being part of this panel by e-mailing Susan at sjg@behavioraldiabetes.org.
