A group at the University of Michigan is doing a research project focusing on parents' perceptions of their child's independence caring
for their type 1 diabetes, the amount of support (alliance) that parents
perceive they receive from the school, community, etc., parental perceptions of
stress related to caring for their child's diabetes, parental well-being and
some questions regarding the children, i.e., age, sex, HgbA1c
levels.

This research study, designed to look at parental perceptions of their child’s school's ability to assist children with type 1 diabetes management while they are in school (parent/school alliance) and the influence of their
perceptions on their health, is greatly appreciated.
You will not be asked to give your name or other identifying information in this survey.
By participating in this research, you will help health care professionals learn
better ways to assist you and your family as you daily manage diabetes.
Participants in this study will be parents and/or primary caregivers of:
*one or more children ages 5-18 that have had type 1 diabetes for at least one year,
*attend school outside of the home and
*are not diagnosed with another serious medical condition, other than celiac
disease
perceptions on their health, is greatly appreciated.
