Warranty

Just curious..has anyone else with upcoming or expired warranties called and asked how the process is supposed to work?

My son has one out of warranty PDM AND one in warranty that we bought to have an extra. I got tired of waiting for the free upgrade for the in warranty one and put in the paperwork to get the new one through insurance. Well I am NOT loving the email that I received just a little bit ago! Here it is below:
Hello Omni Pod User,
If you are receiving this email, we have obtained all paperwork from your physician’s office, completed the authorization process if your insurance requires it and are currently waiting for the new system to be available so we can continue your conversion process. The next step will be an email that you’ll receive to complete the online tutorial for the next generation Omni Pod; this must be completed before we may ship the new system to you. At this point, there is nothing else needed on your part. We continue to appreciate your patience as we transition to the new product. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly but please keep in mind that I don’t have a specific conversion date as of yet.
If your current PDM is broken or malfunctioning, please call me so we can ship out a current version PDM to you for the interim. We will process that PDM through your insurance and you will transition to the new version at no additional charge when it is available.
Thank you!

Haha..yeah the SAME "auto reply" kind of emails I keep getting...Sorry about that...but good to know IM not alone here...

The whole point for me..is that once the warranty is up, dont we become NEW customers? Did they give you a price on how much the new PDM would be out of pocket?

No they did not give me a price but I didn’t ask. I am really frustrated! It should not matter if I am new or not, they would be getting paid either way. To me this is discrimination. My son could really use the different iob and size and we should not be having to fight so hard for this technology!

Careful...others on here may blast you for "whining" like they did to me..haha

The fact is they have PDM's in stock..and are dragging their feet in order to make a "sale" IM currently calling other distributors that have them in stock to get prices...so far $660 is the lowest ive found..

Ha well I guess I am whining but I also feel I have a right to whine! I don’t feel that because some is a new customer, they should have newer equipment than my son! It’s not like our insurance won’t cover it! If there was another tubeless option I would def jump ship!!!

Amen Amen Amen....glad to see im not the only one willing to speak up here and not buy into the "soon" date for transitioning. Again I could see if I needed pods AND a PDM...but fact is..im missing the PDM, and they have them in their hands, but only to "new" customers.

Im checking other ways to get the PDM out of pocket..since places DO have them in their hands as well

The answer according to Omnipod is no, you're still a current customer. But they will be happy to send you a new old PDM and upgrade it without charge when the new PDM "becomes available". Apparently no one told them that if they can send it out to brand new customers it must currently be available.

That is crazy to me...if I want to buy a PDM from a distributor, what business is it to Insulet? Again they have us by the junk on this one...
