I plan on starting up P90X in about a month. Insanity - what a name! =)
Funny, I don’t consider most of what you listed as exercise! I guess fun activities are just that. Don’t misunderstand, you are clearly in great shape and your lifestyle plan is perfect, you don’t need any more exercise than you get!
I guess I’m envious.
Running is exercise, all the others are great outdoor activities that keep you fit!
Weight Lifting. I took private lessons from the assistant Olympic weight lifting coach (Carl Miller) when I was 12 (my mom taught his son art as a trade-off). More then 30 years later, I’ve never lost my love of it.
I also love to ride my bike and I’ve recently taken up jogging - I was training for a 5k, but since I missed it due to other life events, I’m now training for the next race, which is a 10k. Next year I hope to ride STP (Seattle to Portland) in 1 day, did it in 2 days a few years ago.
I hate pilates, I totally don’t understand why exercise has to be that complicated and I take too much time figuring out what to do and don’t get it done. Liked step aerobics until I got more “advanced”, then it, too, became too complicated and thinking was hindering the workout.
still do yoga, but I have a tendency to make that too much like weightlifting, I am trying to find a yoga routine that I will do that isn’t on the power end.
I know how you feel on too complicated workout routines; I find myself struggling to keep up with what they’re doing, and not getting anything good done. Now, with a video, I can stop, and look at it… and get better at my coordination and such, but all the times I ever tried to do a lot of complicated aerobics routines at a gym – forget about it! lol Just give me stuff I can keep simple, cus I’m stupid. lol
My preferred exercise is walking. From October to May I walk before I go into my office(walk downtown) and before I eat lunch. During the summer time I walk on a treadmill at 5am. I don’t walk fast enough to consider this cardio. I have added some weight work. If I don’t walk for 36 hours I can see my numbers go up 30 points. With all my knee problems lately walking has been a problem.
That’s cool. It’s fun to do with a partner. My son and I are on week 2 - day 2 tonight!
I’ve started taking adult ballet lessons. This class is just 1.5 hours a week, so I’ve been doing some ballet DVDs as well. I may not be the best or the most graceful, but I absolutely love it. In the fall, I’m planning on taking Ballet 1 and Ballet 2. Our instructor said that we could be dancing en pointe in 2 years. fingers crossed
