Worst Day of my life

Hello all,

Couple of days ago was the worst day of my life. I had a bg problem. I took a shower and i detached my pump. But when i hook it back it was not attached well. I had my lunch and i took my dose. The pump suggested i should take 4.5, took it dual.

I thought i had my insulin. Unfortunatly it was all leaking out. I then descovered that it was not attached. I checked my sugar and it was 480. That was not the bad part.

I wanted to take a correction but the pump refused to give me becuase it was calculating that there was active insulin there. I called my doctor and she advised me to take an external injetion by the PEN. I didnt have a pen so i used an injection. It was more than 10 years that i didnt use an injection. Instead of taking 3 units as a correction i took 30 units.

Thanks to god my cousin was there and she told me i was wrong about the dose. I missed measured the quantity that i should be taking.

We rushed to the hospital and the immediatly they gave me an IV of dextrose in one hand and salayn on the other one. God only knows what i’ve gone through. It was litrally the worst day of my life. I am really blessed to go through this. I am greatfull to god and my cousin.

I urge you all please to take care and never be alone if you are hi or low. I wanted to share this with all of you so that you take care if someting similar " god forbids" happen to any of you. Keep your doctor’s number with you and be aware of the nearest hospital next to your home.

Regards,

BEBO

How did you manage to take 30u instead of 3?

It was a mistake and a big one :frowning: … I miscalculate with the injection. I tought for every 10ml is 1 Unit. I didnt use injections for more than 10 years. I was on pens then on a pump.

I’m so sorry this happened to you…and I’m thankful you are ok now. I’m also appreciative that you took the time to share this and to warn others.

Take care,
