We have people participating with injuries, people who can only do 5 minutes of exercise due to their health, and people doing heavy, strenuous exercise. This year there is no set time that you have to exercise to log your results.
Did you know - you don't have to have diabetes to participate! Please encourage your families, friends, co-workers, etc. to log their exercise. No fingerstick needed. Any ideas on involving more people are welcome!
Where else can you donate $5 to needy D organizations without taking a penny out of pocket?
Manny has promised to shave his head when we reach 20,000 entries. I really want to see it happen. Let's get there soon!
Thanks for your participation ;)
If you don't know what the BBT is... check out this site.
When it was strictly a TuD thing, we did see the averages and range, but I don't remember that we did when it became a wider project. I could have forgotten.
Ok, I'm confused. Perhaps someone should post a thread explaining how this has changed form last year - post it on TuD that is. Last year (and previous years) we just all did it at the same time on World Diabetes Day at the same time (2PM Pacific I believe). What entries? What do you mean "at least one a day". Could you please explain the new version of the Big Blue Test. Thanks
ok I just got this from Mike Lawson (see him on the lower right as new Head of Experience here at DHF)
To answer your question about what's new with The Big Blue Test, the biggest is that we are increasing the target number of entries to 20,000 people (double of last year's goal)! Roche will also be donating $5 for each entry if we hit the 20,000 goal. You're probably better at math than I am...but that's $100,000 which will be re-granted to 7 diabetes charities helping people with diabetes in need in the US, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Ecuador.
so we are doing #BigBlueTest for 30 days this year, culminating on Nov 14 which is World Diabetes DAy. Mike would be glad to answer any questions, I'm sure.
I was number 8-42 and # 82. Just got to get Cosmo to agree that it is a good idea. I imagine one of the impediments to this is having to use 2 test strips. Especially if your insurance company limits you. But I'm with you and I want to see Manny's shaven head.
I just did it and I was #206. and that's about the same as my blood sugar. oh well, I will do another walk later. not sure why 25 min of brisk walking did nothing to lower my bg
I really don't know why Josephine, but I'm down to 141 now. I was going to do a short walk this afternoon, but currently it's raining cats and dogs. maybe I can do some housework and see the results on my bg
