2010 Diabetic Resolutions

Every single one of us has a little room for improving our lives as diabetics, right? So whats your diabetes goal for 2010?...better food choices? ...more frequent blood testing? ...or even (gasp) daily exercise?

Maybe your goal is totally different…like mentoring a child with diabetes, fund raising, or getting more involved with different diabetes groups and organizations.

Whatever your goal is, I wish you all the best success in 2010.

to actually be diabetic, (a chuck a betic) and to have oodles of logs and food diaries. And to find a way to fit a nice juicy steak into my meal plan once and a while. Also i would like to use my wavesense sugar log application to get me started and motivated, so that i can get rid of the old method of writing it on a napkin. I hope that wavesense test strips (16.49 for 50 at walmart) get on my insurance plan, imy goal is to call them and check up on the process.

Danny I think that’s a great plan! Anyone and everyone can make a big impact, and doing something as simple as participating in the JDRF walk can help a LOT–raising a little money, making some new friends, and enlightening others about the seriousness of this disease. Good luck w/ the goal!

Mine will be to reduce my standard deviation on my CGM. I am currently where I want to be w/ my A1c, but I know it could be a “better” A1c if I reduced the variation of those peaks and troughs. So that’s my plan–which I guess involves making more adjustments to my pumping, making better food choices, and calculating a little better w/ those foods.

I know , I will have a busy year …the resolutions have been set to go : I will ( because I can ) : turn 70 , hubby turn 80 , married 25 years on Ground Hog Day , do a half marathon with Team Diabetes Canada in end May ( this includes training ) , carrying the Olympic Torch , Jan 27 and have friends carry Team Diabetes banners ( requires training , ha, ha …300 meters  ) will participate at at least 5 AGM’s with the Canadian Diabetes Association in British Columbia and share with the audience , living with diabetes for 27 years and motivate others to sign up with Team D. …lots of goals to look forward to , besides going to Palm Desert for 2 weeks , after the torch Run and RELAX !!
Thanks Dino and yes to Danny 's question …and never too late, right ?
All the BEST in 2010…

My 2010 diabetes goal: Ride the Colorado ADA Tour De Cure 100 mile route in under 8 hours.

Start walking everyday. Just need more exercise. (and since it’s still 2009 I’m eating chocolate candy while I write this.) ha ha

I would like to change my lancet more than once a month.

New Years resolution: Exercise becomes Priority #1. No excuse, I have an hour with the off-season kids every day. I can just jump in and do the exercising and weight training with them. I’ve just chosen not to in the past. But that is going to change. I’ve lost 20 lbs with diet alone in the last 3 months, and now I want to lose another 30, which will put me pretty close to my h.s. football playing weight. I’ll let you know how it goes.

To move forward in a Positive mind-frame with my New Life, My Children and My Diabetes.

hahahaha, what’s up??!! I say just at least try to change once a day or a couple of days. that’s easier i think

One of my diabetic goals is to start exercising more (im 15 and in HORRIBLE shape) and another is to lower my a1c

I have to start somewhere!!! I use that multiclix lancet, I just forget to turn it

Definitely going to do a few JDRF walks threw out New England in 2010 and I promise to bring better awareness and education to everyone I correspond with next year. Also give my Endo a little more timely log of all my readings…

Exercise more.

OMG! There are so many, what to chose from???

I need to do three things, eat properly including journaling carbs, exercise on a regular basis, and take those Bs’s faithfully.

It’s that simple and so incredibly hard for me. I won’t eat the elephant, so I am going to do the first and third faithfully from December 26 - January 6th…and then add part two.

I’ll check in and let you know what or how I do, okay?

Cathy

My diabetes goal for 2010 is to be cured. I also want to get back into running 5ks and get the new omnipod thats coming out sometime in 2010.

To stop eating eggs and bacon for breakfast! I blame it on job stress. I work in the stock market and it’s been a pretty rough year, plus we’ve had a lot of startling lay-offs. There’s a restaurant in the main floor of my building that makes the best breakfasts, and I tell myself that it will be easier to face the day if I pick up some eggs and bacon. I’ve been tellng myself this for several months and yes, my blood lipids are showing it.
Now, fate is sort of helping me out on this. In mid-January I am being transferred to another branch on the other side of Minneapolis. There will be no walking past the Sunshine Cafe to trigger my behavior.
Because my bad cholesterol was going up, I was referred to a nutritionist, and had to 'fess up. She thought this once change would make a huge difference. We’ll see.
Good luck, everyone, on your plans for healthy behaviors. No effort is ever wasted.

Good Luck Kathy…you are a strong woman, you will do it. If you can handle the sleet, snow and cold like you do…I have all the faith in the world that eggs and bacon will disappear from the morning routine. Maybe for Sunday breakfast?

I’d like to pay better attention to my blood sugars and lose 10 lbs by Valentines Day. Then I’ll move on to my next weight loss goal in the spring.
