A bit about me

Alright soo the big question is why am I here? Well lets see i was diagnosed in 2009 originally with type 2 diabetes…i was upset and managed it quite well for awhile, and then,… i just stopped. So fast forward to Sept 27 of this year 2011. I go into the ICU diagnosed with DKA. Scary stuff huh? Was in the hospital for about 4 days, mostly because my potassium was still very low. But that friday They decided to let me go, along with potassium meds to take at home… Well i’ve been managing and staying on top of it pretty well since then. Most of the time my blood sugar NEVER exceeds the 100 range which is a great start for me. I found out about this site from from my already wonderful Diabetic Educator,Bev. I cant wait to make another appointment with her! Welp, That is just a brief summary of my story! and i look forward to hearing yours’ too!

Great turnaround Poet! Staying under 100 is a huge accomplishment (as long as you don’t have a lot of hypos to go with it).

Congrats to Bev too for telling you about TuD, and welcome to the family.

Welcome!

Been DKA. Words can’t describe how awful it feels.

Keep up the great work.

Welcome to this site…I am newly diagnosed T1–DKA coma July 2011…It is scary and horrible especially when you wake up in ICU and no one is around to tell you what happened 3 days prior or why you are even there. Needless to say, this is just another unexpected journey He had planned for me and I still can not figure out why?? Good luck with your “D” management and I hope you never have to experience DKA again.

juju im sorry to hear you went into DKA coma i hope you never have to experience that again and hopefully dont ever.
