Is this normal in the onset? Does it continue to be an issue? I have normal BMs so I know this wasn’t diet related.
I’ve been following user feedback for awhile and you’re the 1st one with this experience I’ve read. I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s your diet not afrezza. Hopefully that goes away quickly. How did it affect your BG? Did it work as expected otherwise?
No, unrelated. Hope you feel better soon.
I’d vote unrelated. Feel better.
Thanks for the replies. I was asking if anyone else had experienced it, not if it’s related. Diarrhea is listed as a side effect, so it’s very related. Like I said, I know it’s not my diet. I was experiencing decreased lung capacity (I am not a smoker) and headache as well. I stopped taking it and I’m now back to normal. ~T1D 31 years, MDIs, A1c 6.2
I found this one reference to diarrhea in the Afrezza package insert.
A small but still significant rate of side effects for diarrhea. This is the first mention of this here on this topic. Good luck with fewer adverse reactions. Please update, it would help others. Thanks!
I would suggest giving it a try again once you feel better to see if the result is the same. That would confirm either way. Ultimately it’s just insulin and should not affect you any differently. How did your BG numbers do on it? Thanks.
Thanks Terry, I never saw that till now either.
It’s listed as a potential side effect for pretty much all medications. I would consider its incidence well within the margin of error of the placebo group, and I’m not aware of any physiological mechanism that could produce that result. Also listed with other insulins I’ve looked up… and every other med.
This is the first I’ve heard of a user of any insulin feeling it directly caused that side effect
Thanks for sharing this @Terry4!
@Michelle_Province I hope you are feeling better! It’s always disheartening when medications new to our bodies give us those initial side affects. It took a few weeks before a Afrezza really settled in for me. I kept hounding my friend asking questions. It was definitely worth the patience as I really find it an amazing tool in the D kit!
Best to you! I am so glad you asked this question. I had not heard anyone mention it before. Always learning!
