Another Clear for the Eye

The dreaded yearly eye exam was today. After 35 years of “D” I was ecstatic to hear the words “your eyes are perfect” from the opthamologists. You folks are the only ones that would understand the stress of such appointments and what it means to get a good report…so thank you for allowing me to share. I feel blessed.

Yipee! Best news & I’m sharing your relief & happiness.

Thank you :

I’m a nervous wreck before eye appointments.

ya seriously…it is a major stress for me. I start feeling not so good for days leading to the appointment day. You would think I should feel the same about an endo appointment bec he does blood works too to check the kidneys for example…but I guess something about the eye??? I don’t know.

I hear you. I don’t become anxious going to the endo or the lab for blood tests. When I was diagnosed DKA in the hospital, the first thing I asked was if I was going to be blind.

lol

Whew! Good for you. It’s always Good to hear that. Congrats!

Congratulations! You must be doing something right! I am pleased for you. I know the stress as well. I had my eyes tested in September last year and came out with two pairs of stronger spectacles.

Was having pain in my eyes and went back to the opticians to ask if I was having bleeds. He said that they were painless if they were bleeding but checked and said they were okay. No more changes. But then he decided to give me another eye test and my eyesight has deteriorated so badly that my lense strengths both for reading and distance have gone up two strengths! So, I can get one pair of spectacles free, because I am unemployed but unfortunately I cannot afford the reaction lenses which is a bummer because I am extremely light sensitive! Turns out that the pain is due to “dry eye”!

Thats wonderful news, praise God! Thanks for sharing!

wow…what a pain. Sorry. So is the dry eye better with drops???

Yes for sure.

Thanks guys.

Congrats on the “perfect” exam. I, too am always anxious when it is time for the annual eye exam. The first thing I had checked after my Dx was my eyes. I guess we all feel the same about our eyes. After all you can’t get another pair !!!

I love hearing this good news from others! Congratulations and job well done. I always feel so happy when the retina guy looks in and says “no, there have been no changes since last time.” One of these days, he’s going to say, “well, there’s a little something we need to take care of” but I totally understand that rush when you get a thumbs up. Enjoy it.

It is miserable when your eyesight goes. I have been diagnosed since 2004 but had the symptoms of type 1 for about 10 years before. My eyes have changed somewhat since I first started getting ill and I wonder how much better they would be if I had been diagnosed promptly!

This time though things have gone really wrong and after only 4 months I need new and stronger, much stronger glasses. The last two pairs, reading and distance have been looking as though they are filthy - turned out that my eyes were getting worse.

Still waiting for the new ones! Here is looking at you through two bottle bottoms!

A timely reminder to keep a check on our sugar levels!

I hear you.

I am over due for my eye exam as I wonder how much longer I can keep getting the thumbs up as well.

Congrats to you!!!

Go get it done Karen. Hopefully you will get many many many many more thumbs ups

Congratulations!!

Great news!
