Bedtime Blood Sugar

I was wondering what the lowest bloodsugar some of you are comfortable with before going to sleep. My bloodsugar was 99 b4 bed and I drank a 15g juicbox to get it up a little higher. I had a 3am low the night before. But woke up at 167.

Thanks Lori

I don’t mind 80s depending on how much IOB is floating around. Even 70s if I’m flat?

Right now I am working on getting tighter control so even at 70-80 that feels like it is getting low for me.

Thanks Lori

I like my son to be 100 (ish) with nothing on board before bed. If he needs a bedtime snack, we go for something with a good balance of carbs, protein and fat for a slower, more sustained rise.

I have no problem with 70-80 either. If there’s no food left in my system I may have a spoonful of peanut butter.

70-80 is fine for me also. But remember: some people will feel really low at those numbers, if control is not as tight as some of us.
Pinkfairy8, you are the only one who can really know this. If your goal is 100, then 99 would be fine. If the goal is 120, then a little juice would help, but not too much. I can have 1/4 cup of apple juice (4 oz makes it about 8 carbs) and still go up 40 points. You may have just overtreated?

My body is perplexing. If I go to bed below 100 I’m likely going to have 1-2 lows in the night. If I go to sleep above 120 I’m likely going to wake up at 160+. Is it always possible to get to sleep with a BG between 100 and 120? No. But I sure try!

+1 (with a sliver of really good, really dark chocolate!)

I prefer to be in the 80s, but that doesn’t always happen. `

I am comfortable when I am about 90. If less I usually have a small snack.

I’m fine with 80 or over. (I correct highs, of course). If I’m in the 70s I’ll take a couple glucose tabs (I don’t snack).

I am most comfortable with a reading some where around 110. Like others I have gone to bed with my BG around 90 and been fine. I usually go to bed at 110 and wake up in the AM at 85.

i have to be at least 180 and even then ill wake up around 70. my basals are so weird that if i lower it, my daytime numbers are absolutely horrible.

If my bs is under 100 before bedtime I’ll take about 8g of carbs which I know will ok thru the night.

I’ll say 110 or 115 is ideal. (depends in which direction I’m trending). But if I’m below that, a correction needs to be small. I find that one before-bed carb has the power of two or three mid-day carbs.

I prefer 4.8(86) - 5.4(97) with no fast acting IOB.

I thought your avatar was a lion at first Fairypink until I clicked on it. LOL! Cute lop ear.
