BEWARE of buying iPhone 13

You really only need some high school kid.
My daughter is in 12th grade. They all seem to know the iPhone inside and out without much effort.
My daughter likes to move stuff around in my phone to drive me crazy. So there’s that.

Lol @Timothy Yea, My work used to provide me lots of people that would know right away what to do. They would usually have the latest before me. The young always can just grab it and know!!! Although Apple has outpriced the younger ones here.

@SherryAnn I used to call Apple when I had my first and maybe second iPhone. The problem is techs don’t usually know what you want as a T1? Just like when the Dexcom ap wasn’t working for you, the boards are more likely to have a solution. I can see apple trying to figure out why I want my phone on all night, if they had a clue then on the setting, I could even go dimmer. I actually like buying the iPhone from Verizon. Easier to return, 30 days for anything no questions asked, even the pop socket I had stuck on the iphone 12 I returned last year. Plus I got the iphone13 graphite pro max in less than 14 days.

I have google photos that I pay for as cloud storage. So I suppose I have them with me except it has old albums and I would have to go through etc and try to put them in albums. it’s just work, I like easy. I have over 4,000 photos and videos on there. 2,900 on my iphone that I keep up with as I go. Once I open the ap it backs up all my photos so I don’t have to remember, but it becomes trickier figuring out which to delete on the google photo ap. So I have all sorts of photos I don’t necessarily want? 10 Turtle pix and I kept the 2 I decided were the best and on the site I don’t know which two they were? So sure they are there but… I don’t mind paying for the back up storage…I just don’t like to use it.

OK. I have the Apple watch series 7. I think I am stuck waiting for the next version of Dexcom G6 app to add support, hopefully soon. Honestly it’s kind of nice not having my BG staring at me all the time.

Marie 20,

Two very minor suggestions: you can set your iPhone (or at least mine! so that it wakes up when you just lift it up. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Raise to Wake. When you raise it up to look at it it lights up. You’ll still have to use Face ID to turn it on, but at least you can see what you’re doing a little faster
And…in the same panel, set “Night Shift” to change the display to a warmer (redder) display at night, which is certainly less jarring.

I ordered the 13pro graphite also to get it faster and I’m supposed to get it or have it shipped, Dec. 17 which was a couple weeks sooner than other colors. I ordered it last Friday, so a week ago. I dread the learning curve!

I went right to the Apple store to get my phone, but I did not want the Pro version since I won’t use the “extra” features on the camera. Other than those features, everything else was the same for the regular 13 – plus they had it in stock. I would have had to wait for the Pro, and I had no reason to do that. I took a pink one since the minute I got it, I added a leather case which hid 95% of the pink and gave me a beautiful tan leather phone.

@Bluebird I think it depends which phone you are coming from. But most of the things from past iphones are not hugely different. The farther back the more of a difference. They just add stuff you have to figure out you have now. There are some utube videos out there that highlight the new features. Watch a few as they have different things on them.

I went from an 8 to a 12 at first, that I had tried and took it back earlier this year (because of the facial rec) and now got the 13. The camera is supposed to be better on the 13, but the 12 was easier? I really haven’t found a benefit to the 13 camera over the 12 for my uses. But going from the 8 the camera on still shots is definitely an improvement. I have to take the time to watch the camera ones as this one is supposed to do a lot more.

There are just more choices, but iphone is an iphone, so a lot is the same if that’s what you had before. The good news is the battery is much better!

I still do not like the facial recognition at all, it’s been more work. Constantly. The swiping in general feels like more work to me. Instead of one button push and I return to my screen I have to swipe once to get a bar and swipe again to get there. And swipe in the wrong spot and you get supposedly a shortcut to your favorites? Lol, where the first button push would have gotten me there anyways or the first swipe should have as my favorites are on the first page. Sometimes the bar is there and then it’s one swipe. Not thrilled, they could do better.

But the facial recognition? Sucks lol.

Apple Watch update came in overnight that fixed everything. Also updated to iOS 15.2. No updates to the G6 app in 2 months, so this must have been something Apple found a way to fix themselves, oddly enough.

In any case, complications are working fine on Watch Series 7 now. Hooray!

I posted about the new SugarMate feature in the SugarMate thread. I wonder if this will give you what you are looking for. Sugarmate app - #10 by Jimi63
