UHC strikes again. After 16 years, I can no longer go direct to Roche for my pump supplies. I have to go through Edgepark Medical Supplies now. Can anyone share experience of how they are to deal with?
I have great service from Edgepark although lots of people complain about them. I once asked one of the diabetes specialists why things went so well for me and she indicated that it was because I had great insurance.
I find that every time I switch to a new DME or prescription supplier that the first order might be rocky. But after that I have consistently had good results. Of course I am switching to Medicare in 2017 and might have a totally horrible experience based on what I’ve heard.
Also with Edgepark, they show “retail” prices that are absurd and I am not sure why. Just pay attention to your insurance adjusted price and you will be fine.
Thanks for the info Laddie. I am on Medicare now, actually an advantage plan. Definitely has its ups and downs.
I wonder if Medicare is a whole different department at Edgepark. For the most part I order all of my pump supplies, sensors, and test strips through their website. When it is time for a new pump or Dexcom hardware, I communicate directly with the Diabetes tech department. My guess is that your experience at Edgepark will be very dependent on how responsive your Advantage plan is.
My normal experience is that I order something online and it is at my door in 2-4 days. There are definitely people who have horrible experiences and I hope you’re not one of them.
I had to start using Edgepark when I switched to a Tandem pump. My insulin company didn’t deal directly with them. In the 2 years I have been with them, I have had no problems at all. I get my email. To ice that supplies are getting ready to ship, I approve the order or change the order and that’s it. I get the supplies a few days later. As always, I have enough of a supply on hand, so if there is a hang up, I still have enough supplies on hand. You can never be too prepared!
I’ve switched to Edgepark from Liberty when I switched to my Tslim pump as well. So far I have had no complaints at all with Edgepark. MUCH better than Liberty.
