Yep, two weeks into ownership of the new pump and I somehow cracked the screen.
Does anyone know if the warranty will cover this or will it be a means for Medtronic to charge me for a repair? If given the choice, I think I'd rather leave it, but I don't want to void any warranties that could prevent me from upgrading to other pumps down the line.
Call them right now! There may be other damage to the pump that could cause serious problems.
They will replace it within 24 hours. The pump they send will be refurbished, but I have had 2 over the last 2.5 years and they have been fine. My original pump cracked between the battery corner and display. The second had the infamous "button error." There was no charge. There is no repair--they send you a replacement when you are under warranty. I have had two replacements and warranty remains in place. I recently called about the upgrade and was told I am still under warranty--after 2 replacements.
It's not so much that I don't trust the warranty itself. More that it's only the screen that is cracked and how this may be seen as being my fault and not covered.
I can find all manner of stories about the casing cracked and being replaced, but nothing about the screen. I myself have had cracked battery compartments replaced, but that is a pretty sure sign of a design flaw on how tight the compartment can be screwed in, so again, their fault. This one was my fault.
Has anyone specifically had a cracked screen replaced under warranty?
