Dia-Beatles

Help! I need some insulin!
Help! Not just any insulin!
Help! You know I need my insulin!
Help!

Now tell me, those of you from my generation (that would be the baby boomers) who listened to the Beatles growing up, that you aren’t reading all these songs and trying to sing the lyrics to them. See I knew it, because that’s exactly what I’ve done. Melissa, you’ve created a monster.

Test today…
All my glucose tabs so far away.
On my nightstand where they cannot sway
my low that won’t just go away.

Why it dropped so low, I don’t know,
my meter’s gay.
I did something wrong, now I long
for lunch buffet-et-et-et

Test today.
Sugar’s such a crazy game to play.
Now I need a snack to be okay
Oh, I believe I’ll test today.
(doo-doo-doo-doo-doo test todaaaaaaaaay…)

Ob-LADA

Desmond is a Type II with the dawn phenom’.
Molly is a Type I from Riyadh.
Desmond says to Molly "Girl, your pump’s awesome."
And Molly says ā€œThanks, it’s a brand new omnipod…
Ob-la-di, ob-LADA, life goes on, brah!
I’m LADA but my life goes on.
Ob-la-di, ob-LADA, life goes on, brah!
I’m LADA but my life goes on.ā€

Desmond takes a bolus with his Minimed,
Hopes someday to manage just the food,
Gives his heart to Molly, and, in time, they wed,
And about her diagnosis, still she croons,
ā€œOb-la-di, ob-LADA, life goes on, brah!
I’m LADA but my life goes on.
Ob-la-di, ob-LADA, life goes on, brah!
I’m LADA but my life goes on.ā€

In a couple of years, A1cs have come back down,
He’s off the pump, but he’s still the love
Of Type 1 D Molly Jones… (Ha ha ha ha ha)

Happy ever after at their CDE’s,
Desmond helps to manage with her lows.
Molly starts a blog about her recipes
And in the evening she still sings her diagnos’.
ā€œOb-la-di, ob-LADA, life goes on, brah!
I’m LADA but my life goes on.
Ob-la-di, ob-LADA, life goes on, brah!
I’m LADA but my life goes on.ā€

BlackBird
Low blood sugar in the dead of night
Take this insulin pump and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for your BG to arise

High blood sugar in the light of day
Take these clouded thoughts so far away
All your life
You were only waiting for this high to be OK

Diabetes fly, far away
Into the light of the dark black night
Diabetes fly, far away
Into the light of the dark black night
You were only waiting for the cure to be OK.
You were only waiting for the cure to be OK.

I love Blackbird. Great rendition.

giggles Cute!

(This one didn’t need a lot of work. Please excuse the CAPS.)

HELP!
I NEED SOME SUGAR
HELP!
NOT JUST ANY SUGAR
HELP!
YOU KNOW I NEED SOME NOW
HELP!

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, SO MUCH YOUNGER THAN TODAY,
I NEVER NEEDED SUGAR’S HELP IN ANY WAY.
BUT NOW THOSE DAYS ARE GONE, I’M LOOKING FOR A CURE,
DIABETES CHANGED MY LIFE I’VE OPENED UP THE DOORS.

HELP ME IF YOU CAN, I’M FEELING DOWN
AND I WOULD APPRECIATE SOME SUGAR ā€˜ROUND.
HELP ME OR I’LL FALL DOWN ON THE GROUND,
WON’T YOU PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME.

AND NOW MY LIFE HAS CHANGED IN OH SO MANY WAYS,
MY INDEPENDENCE SEEMS TO VANISH IN THE HAZE.
I’M TIED TO SHOTS AND THINGS, I FEEL SO INSECURE,
I KNOW THAT I JUST NEED YOU LIKE I’VE NEVER DONE BEFORE.

HELP ME IF YOU CAN, I’M FEELING DOWN
AND I WOULD APPRECIATE SOME SUGAR ā€˜ROUND.
HELP ME OR I’LL FALL DOWN ON THE GROUND,
WON’T YOU PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME…

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, SO MUCH YOUNGER THAN TODAY,
I NEVER NEEDED SUGAR’S HELP IN ANY WAY.
BUT NOW THOSE DAYS ARE GONE, I’M LOOKING FOR A CURE,
DIABETES CHANGED MY LIFE I’VE OPENED UP THE DOORS.

HELP ME IF YOU CAN, I’M FEELING DOWN
AND I WOULD APPRECIATE SOME SUGAR ā€˜ROUND.
HELP ME OR I’LL FALL DOWN ON THE GROUND,
WON’T YOU PLEASE,
PLEASE HELP ME,
HELP ME,
HELP ME, OH.

Melissa:

I wish I had your sense of humor!! This is a great idea and these are great lyrics.

Hey! Wouldn’t it be super COOL to get these set to their original tunes? I don’t recognize SOME of them, but I get it would be heck of a gas to hear this with the new words.

WONDER IF THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE THAT IS TECHNOLOGICALLY TALENTED ENOUGH TO PULL IT OFF???

Remember, it was my idea!!! Lois La Rose, Milwaukee, WI

oh no kidding about the monster.

I really am having trouble stopping. I got out the number 1 cd and listened all day to them so I could think of lyrics. Help I need to stop now, not just any time now, i need to stop right now

LOL

Rick Phillips

It’s possible. Most of these tunes are available karaoke-style on itunes and could be sung and recorded as mp3s, etc, but to play with them like that, we actually risk breaking copyright law. So I think this will have to do for now.

Melissa:

Ohhh, you just burst my balloon! I was just sitting here reading he lyrics and trying to imagine the tunes being clear in my head. I was a Beatles fan, but my memory for the tunes is really pretty much gone. I DID picture sitting and listening and laughing til my guts hurt!!!

Being a former legal secretary, I have to agree with you. Even in the event of a joke, there are such litigous people out there you can’t even sneeze and someone says they did it first and, thus, owns sneezes!!!

Oh well, back to more lyrics. Lois La Rose, Milwaukee, WI

Rick:

Maybe you out to go to some Beatles Anonymous meetings! Lois La Rose

Hope this hasn’t been done already. (I’m too lazy to look.)

Eight Days a Week

Ooh I need my shots babe,
Guess you know it’s true.
Hope you have my shots babe,
Sometimes I need two.
Novo, Log me, Novo, Log me.
I ain’t got nothin’ but shots babe,
Eight days a week.

Shoot me ev’ry day girl,
Always on my mind.
One thing I can say girl,
Shoot me all the time.
Novo, Log me, Novo, Log me…
I got my Novolog shots girl,
Eight days a week.

Eight days a week
It loves me.
Eight days a week
Is not enough, it’s so unfair.

(repeat)

Novo, Log me, Novo, Log me.
I ain’t got nothin’ but shots babe,
Eight days a week,
Eight days a week,
Eight days a week.

We’re all insane, aren’t we?
My wife says it’s good that we can cut up and laugh about this. I reckon she’s right. This has been a blast, and maybe I’m not done yet. But for tonight,
Peace, Ya’ll

This is too perfect!

Terry,You be da bomb! and your story lines are great too!,keep it up!
