My husband passed away a week ago. One of the first things I did was look for a place where I could donate his diabetes supplies. After a number of phone calls to the obvious places, I have not yet been able to find anyone who will take them for a good cause. There are several vials of Lantus, unused Novolog pens, syringes, pen needles and Free-style Lite test strips. I can't bear to throw away hundreds of dollars of perfectly good products. Any suggestions? I am located in the Charlotte, NC area.
I'm sorry about your husband. Unfortunately, insulin is a prescription controlled medication and most charities cannot handle the donation of insulin. And for the same reason, this forum cannot be used to donate or gift insulin or other prescription controlled supplies.
I would tell you that most endochronologists will take unopened and expired supplies like insulin and they will distribute it to their patients. You can also give your supplies to Insulin for Life USA who will distribute the supplies to children and adults in developing countries.
Thank you for the contact at Insulin for Life. This will surely get this medicine to a worthy cause.
This was exactly what I was looking for.
Sorry to hear of your loss, i would suggest you look up free clinics in your local area, that is where i take everything that i can get donated including "factory sealed" vials of insulin..hope this works for you, they really need donations.
