Download PDM data problem

Just downloaded the copilot and extension software from the OmniPod site. Getting an error message saying no PDM is detected even tho the PDM is saying 'ready'. Got my Pod Thursday and so far am loving it. I would like this software to work as I am having to write out logs for my diabetes educator to help figure out what settings to use. I did phone the OmniPod customer service number for help a little while ago. I got Isabella. She said she could not help w/Copilot and to call back tmo or she'd have someone call me. Problem w/that is I have the copilot & extension software on my home computer but will be at work all day tomorrow. Sigh. Has anyone had success using the copilot download? Are there normally a lot of problems getting it going? Thanks for any suggestions.

Ellie, are you trying to download on Vista or Windows 7? I think Co-pilot only works with Xp or Windows 2000. I am going to try and load on my Windows 7 laptop tomorrow and see if I can get it working. I will check back here tomorrow. Hank

I have Xp.

Ellie, Co-pilot is supposed to work good with Xp. When you run the program and get to the screen where you get your records, you should plug in the pdm using the supplied cable to Usb port. Do not turn pdm on. In a few seconds you get a box that asks you what program to read Usb device. You can close that. On the toolbar in the upper left of screen, go on data entry and click on Read omnipod PDM. Your pdm will come to life and you will get a box that says x entries imported. Click ok and you should have your reports. You will need to click separately for all of the reports, but they should come up. Good luck, Hank

Well Hank that does make sense. I was trying w/the PDM plugged in all the time. It said 'ready' but nothing happened except an error message on the computer saying 'retry?'. I will try it w/o plugging in the USB. @ work now so will have to wait till I get home. Thanks for that info. ♥

Nope. Tried it all again and says 'retry'. Need to call 1-800 number I guess. Thanks Hank. No one else has problems w/this?

Ellie, best advice is 800 #. Good luck. Abbott Co-pilot support group # is 888-522-5226, in case you did not have. Hank

Thanks Hank. I'll try and get some help this weekend if they take weekend calls. I'd like to have a nice print out to send the CDE and bring the endo next week in case she cannot download either. I am tired of keeping a paper log. Have a nice weekend.

Good luck. It is hard to diagnose problems with computers by email/post. Have a nice weekend yourself. Hank

Ellie,
Did you download Co-Pilot 1st, then the Omnipod download? If not delete both & re-install Co-pilot 1st. Also, Hank is right, open up Co-Pilot, then plug in your PDM, when the PDM comes on, click on the data entry tab, you also may have to make the Omnipod PDM the default device. I had the same problems until I switched my son's PDM as the default device. Hope this helps.

LOL. I called Abbott and as soon as they heard 'omnipod' they wouldn't talk anymore but said to call Omnipod. When I called she said (of course) the copilot golks weren't available on weekends but offered to help. Of course as soon as I pulled it up w/her on the phone it worked perfectly. Murphy's Law huh? I love the reports. BG still usually over 200. CDE getting a little frantic and keeps uping the basals and ratios. I have an appt next week w/the endo and I sense the CDE is wanting things to be ok so the endo will take over 'handling' me. All I want is for the BG to be more 'normal'. Getting a Dex CGM in a couple weeks. I'll feel like the bionic woman.

Ellie, I think we all feel a little "bionic" or like a "cyborg" with transplants, replacement joints, broken bones with screws and rods, CGM's, and insulin pumps. I guess I don't like the alternative. Glad you are up and running.
