Am so excited. It is 7pm and the new Endo from Tanner clinic called and want to see us tomorrow at 1pm... Maybe this sounds bad but I wonder if the last test the IA-2 showed something...I dont care I hope something is done to help my son.. am taking all home sugars and food charts. I hope got everything to take. He has all his charts for other doctors already. Am worried he say like other Endo that his sugars are little him but it is ok we will observe him more.. I pray this time the Endo does something because something is obviously wrong....I will keep you all posted. Wish me luck and hope that I stay firm and strong. Btw hubby is going he said he done playing games they will do something.. ;)
It sounds promising that they're getting you in. I would lean on the blood sugar more than the other tests. The numbers seem to be indicating diabetes, which is a drag, but knowing about it rather than wondering will feel better in some ways too I think...
Good luck. I would insist that something be done regardless of the other tests.
good luck ! keep us posted :)
Thanks everyone. I feel bad my son isnt happy he scared of more needles but said he wants feel better. I so hope this will start getting better....
I hope this works out well for you, I know you are worried about your son.
VERY GOOD NEWS... My son is awesome :)
Saw the Endo today who was shocked at the other doctor not informing us that not only is my son GAD + but he is higher then 30 that itself is 90% diabetic. Take his sugar in account and the 7.1 A1c from today he is 99.9999999999% sure he is type 1.
Starting tomorrow at 9am we will be giving him Lantis 5 ml or grams I forgot but we wont be doing it we have a teacher who will walk us thru and a dietician. This way we can start doing it or my son can himself. He will stay on this till we go in next Tuesday at that time he might had some Humlin to it. Sorry a bad speller, but he said we will cross that bridge when we get there for now we have to do something because this is hard on his pancreas.
He is also taking blood in morning for some hormone that is only in system in morning just to rule out something else but said he is confident that we got this early and said maybe he will now feel so much better.
He did have the notes and documents from other Endo and he didn't look happy about what he read and saw.
Thank you all for putting up with me. I have been a wreck and yet right now I am so at ease I cried in front of doctor. So ya I feel i am wacky myself but It is so comforting to finally get help he needed...
Congratulations on your steady advocacy for your son. While a diabetes diagnosis is not something to celebrate, it's much better to know the truth than to be lost in so much uncertainty. Good luck with the training!
Glad you found a good doctor who provided some clarity and is getting a treatment plan together. You and your son will probably remember this day for the rest of your life, I know I will in my case. This isn’t like other illnesses where one might be able to just take some meds and hope for the best. This is life changing, and a constant battle from which he will never get a day off from for the rest of his life. It can be very taxing, but the good news is that with all the hard work and dedication it takes, it can still be a happy, healthy, and long life. The learning curve is very steep for quite a long time in learning how to effectively manage food and insulin, but stick with it with your son because it will really pay off. This won’t be easy for your son to get a handle on, or maybe to understand the importance of at his age so I hope he will let you guide him until he gets it.
Thanks I feel so at peace knowing there was someone who is helping. I think the fact that the Endo is type 1 and His son is 2 and is type 1 and hearing his story and feeling like we are human and so was he. The whole atmosphere was great. He took time with us over hour which was his lunch to draw diagrams and speak to us in a way we understood. He must of asked us if we had any questions at lease 10x. I felt like he really wanted to help and that he knew we where at our wits end with what was wrong. Tomorrow is a new day and like my son said maybe I will start being stronger and not so tired. Am not excited I am relieved that I have help...
good! glad to hear it. sounds like he may be testing his adrenal functions, cortisol levels maybe? hang in there. :)
Yay! What a difference; somebody who gets it! And a Type 1 himself! You got the right guy now!
Sam is right and said it well. There is a lot to learn but your son can live a full, healthy life. You might want to join the Parents group on here (not sure I remember the exact name) but there are lots of people to answer questions as you go along. Good news!
I'm glad that you finally saw a doctor that really listened, looked and gave you some thoughtful advice. I never, ever, want to hear of someone who is diagnosed with diabetes. But even worse, I absolutely hate hearing of someone who is harmed by a misdiagnosis. Your relentless effort has potentially saved your son from some real potential harm. Diabetes is nothing to sneeze at, it will take lifelong work to manage. But knowing you have diabetes and taking care of it, your son can life a normal, long, happy and healthy life.
I am so darned impressed that the new endo looked over the records, and realized that he needed to see your son immediately. Nice to know that some of them are knowledgeable. And WOW getting an endo who is also a diabetic should really help.
Everyone here is simply glad to help out. You were in a very rough situation that many of us have also been through (and gotten support from this board as well).
hi momof4rugratz,
I'm very sorry that he prolly does have D/type1 but really glad that you finally found a good endo who diagnosed this and that he will be getting treatment before he goes to dka or gets damage etc. :)
me too, great endo and a caring person!
We just got a call his IA-2 it was 1.9 suppose to be o.8 and under... test came in late but we got it and more info....
Sarah yep but he said only because wanted make sure was type 1 not something else. He said if IA-2came back we might not need to test it...
