This Tuesday I got my 670 G pump! I was a little nervous at first. I have a lot of Test strips form my old pump. So I have to manually put them in. But so far I really like it . I can’t wait for the sensor to come in. I think I will like it even more.
I’ve read many good things about the 670G pump. I hope it works well for you. Keep us posted.
My wife and I met with the Medtronic rep last night regarding the 670 for my 7 yr old daughter. Very cool stuff. My daughter is using the dexcom g5 right now. She loves how little it is. With that said, she wasn’t impressed with the 670 and its tube. We decided to go with Omnipod. I hope the 670 works will for you. From what I understand, getting a pump is like diagnoses all over again. mid night and 3 am checks, correction of bolas and basal rates. Fun stuff.
@Josh101
Hopefully the Medtronic rep informed you that the 670g is not approved for children younger than 14 and in fact is FDA Black Box Labeled to state it may not be safe for children under 7 or those requiring less than 8 units of insulin per day.
She did not mention that. In Canada, we only have access to two pumps. Medtronic being one.
@Josh101
Sorry - I missed that you are in Canada. Certainly the approvals between Canada and USA are quite possibly different not only in fact/language but also in timing. I tried looking up how the 670g is approved in Canada but for some reason had trouble finding it.
Is it possible that the 670g is still pending approval in Canada? Which would certainly make it very odd for a Medtronic rep to be discussing that as an option for your young child. More likely I was just doing a bad search.
To the best of my knowledge, the 670g is still not approved for use in Canada yet. The only option that we have is the 630g and there has been no discussions on when the 670g might become available.
I’ve been waiting patiently and checking on this fairly regularly as I’m one of the users affected by the recent Animas closure and would rather transition to a 670g if the option becomes available.
I am also going for the 670G to replace my Animas Vibe insulin pump, and have been searching to find out when it will be available in Canada.
