I have a Tandem t:slim pump and I just completed the requirements needed to install the latest software that allows use of either Dexcom G6 or G7. I have the code I need to install the software, but I have not done it yet. I just inserted a new Dexcom G6 sensor and I am concerned that when I install the new software, this may upset the pairing of my sensor. Does anyone know if this is an unnecessary worry on my part? It’s no problem to wait 9 more days and when I am ready to insert a new sensor, I can install the new software before I do that. Just curious.

I was worried about it as well. But no need, it still worked.
Thank you.
I just did it yesterday with no problem. It is best to do it when you’re due to change cartridge as you have to do have to do that. When you restart the sensor it does ask for the code. I always jot that number down when I change sensors so I had it. Not sure what happens if you don’t. May have to re-pair to smartphone app. Other than that, it went pretty well. Advise you read the screen really well to see all the instructions.
Thank you. I always keep the code, also.
The pump will forget all it’s short term memory items, like how much insulin is in the cartridge, how much IOB you have active, and yes, your sensor. It doesn’t stop the sensor at the transmitter, though, it just forgets about it. All you have to do is rejoin the CHM session that’s already running. You don’t need the calibration code anymore, because the transmitter already knows what code was entered. You just rejoin the session that’s already running by clicking “start sensor” and “skip” the code. It doesn’t hurt anything to enter it, but it serves no purpose.
Thank you for the information.
Just want to reiterate what was said here.
I was mid-sensor when I installed the pump software upgrade. I just had to restart my sensor session with “no code” and it picked up right where it let off
Thank you. Planning to do it tomorrow.
Anyone get the CANNOT CONNECT TO SERVER MESSAGE?
