So after being advised by my local rep's boss, Linda McGuire, that "edgepark does NOT have and has NEVER had the new PDM's, only pods" , I called to confirm this , and what do you know..it was a LIE by insulet!
I asked if I can just buy a PDM out of pocket, and not deal with insurance, and even THAT is being locked down by insulet. What business of Insulet is it if Edgepark wants to sell me a PDM out of pocket?

it was the same with me. I was told by Edgepark that insulet has instructed them to provide new PDM only to new enrolled or who has expired warranty.
I don't see any lies. Insulet did say they stopped shipment of the devices at one time, so that seems to verify what they told you. You're trying to hard again...
One thing I still don't have clear is how you got the new pods? You should not have received them if Insulet hadn't cleared their delivery in the first place. Which they will only do after the PDM and Insurance thing has been cleared. So that brings up why do you have them? If you received them due to some type of forceful communication on your part to begin with, then your argument about the PDM just died. Makes you really look bad...
My warranty expires on 6/16, theres no way that Insulet will have me my new PDM by then, so I know I'll have to buy my new one. I dont see why I cant BUY it now, its none of Insulet's business what edgepark wants to sell me. Especially when i HAVE my PODS already

Medco sent my new PODS, and its insane to "send them back" when my warranty expires soon, why not let me BUY the new PDM when im ready to go ????
I guess the expired warranty was how I got mine from Edgepark. The new system is nice, but it's really not so great that it's worth stressing over. Sure, the pods are smaller, but once I have one on, I really can't tell that much difference.
Ive given up hope of getting the "free" PDM, Im simply trying to buy it myself from a distributor, and keep Insulet out of it. Seems like they have gotten their hands into the distributors pockets as well. Again its NONE of insulets business if i want to buy something from a distributor. Wrong?
Why would you do that, rather than waiting to see what happens? It seems like you've worked yourself up into a lather that you now can't get out of.
IF you don't get your new PDM before your warranty date expires and IF Insulet doesn't work with you to get your PDM for "free," then you can cross that bridge but why pay out of pocket needlessly?
Honestly would you expect the new pdm to be shipped by the 16th? Im a planner...trying to figure out the next step

What happens to the PDM you currently use on the 16th? Does it automatically stop working? Or do you run out of the bigger pods on the 16th?

This really seems very silly to me. Insulet will roll them out as they see fit, I’d rather them not rush production on life saving medical equipment. If they don’t have them by your warranty expiration that seems to be on them, as they were avaliable for the last few months to “new” customers. Seems to me it will all get resolved. Could be worse, you could be on a ten year old tubed pump because your insurance won’t pay 8k to replace the one you have. Or you could be a diabetic on MDI, who’s barely scrapping it to buy insulin and test strips every month. But no, your upset because you can’t get new equipment right this minute. Wow, just wow.
I WILL be MDI after 3 more pods...since I of course had my first screemer in 6 months tonite while changing.
Its simple enough..get ONE person off the list of people to switch over that ONLY needs the PDM....very very very simple

You know in Australia if you are over 18 you are required to buy your pump, in India nobody can afford to pump. In the UK they go on wait lists, in Africa just getting insulin and clean needles is near impossible, right here in the US the uninsured choose between food and testing or taking insulin. Really, get a tad bit of perspective on getting a new PDM or pods. Last time I checked my old PDM and pods save my life daily. I’m pretty cool with that whole deal ATM.
Id LOVE to be able to purchase my own PDM...but insulet got their hands on that one by blocking it from distributors wanting to sell them
I agree that he should be able to get his pdm as he is going out of waranty, and is willing to pay for it. he has the new pods, can`t order new ones because of the error of getting the new pods, and the way that insulet is going about it is not professional.
He has the right to fight for this.
Disagree with his methods if you wish, and don`t read his posts if your tired about hearing about it. He has the right to post about his problems with insulet and the omnipod, and the good things,just like everyone else does.

From what i understand insulet is blocking those kinds of orders now. Edgepark and Byram told me they wont allow them to sell to people still in warranty, even though I know they wont ship mine by my warranty date
$500 is the rate Edgepark and Liberty are selling them for, but they "cant" sell them. Its so frustrating...NONE of insulet's business what they want to sell me but somehow they think it is
