Is the Abbott Navigator dead?

There have been both rumors, and a product recall of sorts…

What have you all heard?

No product recall just the letter warning of potential problems with a crack in the unit. I am using mine and it works very well 90% of the time which is acceptable to me.
It would be a bummer if it were pulled but why would they do that at this stage?

I called this morning and i was told there are NO transmitters. A LOT of people are without working systems right now and I know of too many who have been waiting since the beginning of march. They sent a letter our by certified mail saying that the transmitters were faulty and to call them, but when you call them they tell you they are “backordered” and they will call you in 2 weeks!
I doubt they will go out of the CGM business but they have a warranty on the product and especially those who have been waiting without a system to use since march, are very, very, upset that they have not replaced them yet.

There are always rumors or whatever, but my biggest concern is for the people who are not able to use the system! They need to ship those transmitters out. It is unacceptable what they are doing. This isn’t a week or two this is has been going on for at least 2 months that I can confirm with a surety and what is even worse is the company is still selling NEW systems to people with the same transmitter that the current customers don’t have access too.
VERY bad business practices IMO.

I dont follow you on this. Has this transmitter issue been a major problem? Mine seems to work fine and I swim almost every day with it. Are people unhappy because they said call for a new one and we will send it to you?

I was totally unaware that there were many users who had transmitters that were broken.

No people are NOT unhappy because their transmitter broke and it was replaced!

People are beyond mad that the transmitter broke 2 months + ago, and they have no working system and they are “at the top of the list” when Abbott gets replacements in!

People are mad because the warranty is not being honored and when they call they are told to call back in 2 weeks to see if they have any new news!

Call Abbott and ask for a transmitter , ask when they will have new ones in, I was told " soon" yesterday.
I said HOW soon… and was told to call back in 2 weeks. i have friends who were told “soon” 8+ weeks ago.
It is unbelievable

Betty,

I am sorry for the problems you and others are having but no reason to go off on me I was just asking a question.

Good luck.

I spoke to someone at the corp office this afternoon. The transmitters are in the warehouse . People will be getting calls tomorrow , and they will ship them out asap, according to the list… Its a good thing I’m peristant…
My son’s transmitter died on March 5th…

OH, SETH…
I am really really sorry… this had nothing to do with you and when I re-read my post, it did come across that way… it was NOT in any way intended to come across that way!

Please accept my apology If I have offended you… It was never my intention to be rude to you. I should have been more polite in my response.

I didn’t mean for you to be offended or to feel like I was in anyway mad at you. You asked a legitimate question that wasn’t rude in anyway. I am glad they have shipped the transmitters and hope that this will fix the problem that they have had for so many people.

I don’t know where you get the idea that Betty is going off on you. Her response seems clearly directed at Abbott.

Terry

Can you ask your insurance company if you can switch your coverage to Dexcom 7 Plus? Would that be an option for you? Because the customer service you are experiencing is unacceptable, IMO. We did switch our cgms coverage from Minimed to Dexcom recently. There is paperwork but it can be done. We have been waiting for quite some time for Minimed to reduce the size of that huge introducer needle. Got tired of waiting. Plus, I have been reading really good things about the accuracy of the Dex Seven Plus.
