I lost my CGM receiver yesterday. It fell out of my pocket while biking to work. I spent hours walking back and forth and never found it. What a stupid expensive mistake! I know I can get the one-time 200 dollar replacement after payday, I think I just need sympathy from people who understand how jarring it is to be without my constant data source! I have only used it consistently for about 6 months- I'm amazed at how lost I feel without it.
I've been watching my CGM data-stream for four years now. I, too, would feel lost without it. I would probably do a lot more fingersticks to compensate. I definitely think it's worth the $200 replacement cost. Sorry for your troubles!
This got me thinking...can we pay $200 for another receiver so when we "trick it" and restart the sensor in the same spot, we don't have to wait for the 2 hour calibration window since we know don't really need that site to settle down since it's already been there for a week anyway? (I understand that we DO need to actually wait the 2 hours when it truly is a new sensor that we've placed).
I recently received my 2nd G4 receiver and use both the old one and the new one to receive and display my BG data. I use it to view the two hour black-out period at the end of the first seven days.
How did you get a 2nd receiver?
Mine never stay on for more than 5 days! I wear them on the back of my arm (not approved by Dexcom, but works for me and is accurate according to my glucometer)Interesting idea, though! I bet it would work!
My first one was one year old and the warranty expired. I called Dex and they put through another order and insurance claim.
