I decided to go to the gym today, and do some weights and finish off with some cardio. I usually clip my pump to the waistband of my pants and it’s fine. Today, not so much! I was jogging on the treadmill when the pump came unclipped. I had the reaction that I think most pumpers would have - “Oh, ****!” And I tried to catch my pump by the tubing so that it didn’t break or pull out the infusion set. Fortunately I was successful in that but I also forgot I was on a treadmill, and fell down and off, on to the floor. I escaped with a skinned leg and a gash on my knee, but worst was the embarrassment because everyone in that gym was staring at me!
All this to say, does anyone have a recommendation for a good sport case or at least a better place to wear a pump at the gym?
I use a Running Buddy Mini that clips to my waistband with a magnetic flap. The magnets are on the side and don’t affect the pump. I don’t know what brand pump you have. I have a t:slim X2 and I like how the top flap anchors the pigtail part of the tubing. I have been using it when I am at the gym for both cardio and strength classes. Works great!
The funny thing is, that same item is also sold by Spibelt for earbuds to go through the hole for listening to music when exercising. It’s the same exact thing, the people at Spibelt just did some clever marketing and put a diabetes pump label on it. But I applaud them for recognizing a need.
I have a regular Spibelt because it is cheaper than the “Diabetic” one. The tubing just comes out at the end of the zipper and not once I have wished that I had the one with the hole for tubing. I get annoyed by things on my waist and although I used to use my Spibelt at the gym a lot, I am happier with the Running Buddy Mini.
i have had my pump for 20 years. I seem to have developed a six sense in being able to catch that bad boy without even looking at it. Sometimes people think its a yo-yo I’m so quick…
Sorry this happened to you; but I just move on and don’t bat an eye.
I’ve been running and cycling with my pump for many years. I attach it to a cheap leather belt that’s very rough on the inside. I don’t have any loops on my shorts, so the belt only uses friction to stay in place. Also attached to the belt is a smart phone and a CGM.
