Omnipod and best match for a CGM

I’ve been T1 for 3 years. I have used the Omnipod pump for almost a year. I think I may need to get a CGM because my BG numbers are less stable. Maybe the end of the honeymoon? I hate the idea of tubes and if I have to have a tube I at least would like to carry fewer monitoring devices. Can the PDM work well with a particular CGM?

I’m not exactly sure what you are asking… There are two choices in the CGM department: Medtronic or Dexcom. I would venture a guess that 90% or more of people on this Forum would recommend the Dexcom CGM over the Medtronic CGM.

CGMs work independently of the OmniPod system. Some insulin pumps offer integration with a particular CGM, but many people, myself included, recommend against integration because Dexcom improves and updates their CGM on a regular basis, which means that if you have an integrated system, you are stuck with an older version of the CGM.

My daughter uses the OmniPod system and the latest version of the Dexcom CGM, the G-5. Her CGM operates independently of her pump.

One vote for Dexcom
