I had my very first Endo appointment today and am so happy that it resulted in an order for my first CGM. I’ve learned so much from everyone here who’ve told their stories, asked and answered such a wide array of questions (many of which I didn’t even know I had until I read the posts) or shared their successes and struggles.
I want to thank you all! From all of you I was able to develop my own D voice and able to articulate to my Endo how I want to use a GCM to improve my BG results and time in range. Both my Dr and the Dexcom rep commented how nice it was to see a patient who “is aware I was of what they want/need and had done their research”. I let them know it was all due to TuDiabetes and its members.
Quick background: On February 2, 2015, at the age of 55, I went to an appointment with my GP after several months of quick onset symptoms. I lost 60 lbs, my vision got dramatically worse, had an unquenchable thirst and was peeing like I was 8 months pregnant. My lab results showed that my A1C was 15.4 and BG was 520 that day! I was put on Humalog/Levemir and started eating “lower carb” right away. I’ve been on MDI since. While I was able to get my A1C down to 7.2 by my next appointed 3 months later, it has hovered there ever since. I’ve got much room for improvement and know the CGM will help me in my D journey to live the best life I can.
