Just got back from the doctor’s office and learned my latest A1c dropped from 6.9 to 6.5!! I am so excited!! The Dexcom has helped me so much to achieve this–I am in range more often and have fewer exercise lows and rampant spikes. Even getting the respiratory crud didn’t throw me off as much as I feared!! Hooray!!
That’s great! I’m glad it helped you so much
Thanks, @meee! Being a member here, and learning to take charge of my own diabetes, has made all the difference.
Congrats! I totally agree. The gadgets give us the tools but being a member here helps us use them! I also just got my best a1c result, but I certainly could not have achieved it alone without help from this forum!
Congratulations!!!
Keep up the good work.
The power of technology and taking charge of your life. Congrats!!
Congrats!!! You give me hope. Going to talk about a cgm at my second endo visit later this month. Great work!!!
Congratulations! The Dexcom has definitely been life-changing for me, too.
Ditto for me.
A1C improved when I first stated using Minimed CGMS, but improved much more after I switched to Dexcom, and learned much more from others (online) what to DO with the information Dexcom provided.
Thanks, everyone, for your acknowledgement and support!! This day has been too-long-in-coming!
Great job!
When I win the lottery, I’m gonna get one too. Unless by some miracle one of those bills pending in Congress passes in the meantime.
Way to go, @CatLady06! Getting a CGM is one thing. Paying attention to it and using the data to direct better BG control is a separate and more important thing. Good job.
Hugs to you @CatLady06! I bet that feels just amazing! Cheers to you for taking great care of your health. I like what @Terry4 reminds above…having the CGM is one thing and using it to make great decisions in another. Way to use that little gizmo to the max!
Congrats to you! Such a wonderful feeling!
The best thing in my diabetic career was the affordable care act coming into existence. (I’m self employeed). I have the best insurance coverage of my life through Kaiser and as a result recently got to start the Dexcom. I learned more about my diabetes in 24 hours than in years prior. It’s crazy how many things may have to happen in order to get something we should all have access to. Those who can’t get one yet, I promise I will always fight in any way I can to make this type of diabetic therapy to anyone who wants or needs it.
I’m similarly self- employed and grateful for the ACA and Kaiser coverage. Curious if diabetes coverage varies state to state - they cover pump and CGM supplies at 50% under DME here in Hawaii. Is it the same in other states? (Assuming you live outside of Hawaii…?)
Thanks!
It does vary state to state. I’m in Virginia. My plan is for DC, Maryland and Va. I was actually surprised I’m covered 100%, even though I have great insurance. Previously I always had some share (with other coverage).
I think it may vary by which plan you have in an area as well. Hudson, I’m also in the DMV area, but I have to pay 20% coinsurance for my DME through Kaiser. I’m OK with that though. My insurance is very inexpensive.
