Our Cure

From my hands to my heart,
I draw my insulin to give my shot,
High to low it will start,
This is something that shouldn’t be forgot,

They are trying to find a cure,
But not while I am here,
Of this I am pretty sure,
And we don’t have to fear,

I am healthy and free,
That’s just the way I am,
I am old enough to see,
That they take their time instead of cram,

In the upcoming years,
It will be forever pure,
As you will hear,
They have found the cure!

Hi Kati. I like your poem. It has a lot of realism in it, which implies that people are taking their time coming up with a cure for diabetes. I hope and pray that your line, “not while I am here” will be proven to be wrong. Maybe you think that’s “pie in the sky” talk, but I believe there really are some sincere, non-greedy folks who are on the front lines of research and development. Call me crazy if you want, but I have to believe this as a positive person. Anyway, thanks for posting your poem, and all the best to you in your diabetes management. Larry.
