John’s congregation has come to the hospital and they and the family are doing a massive prayer circle. There are more wagons circling around Missy. I’m struck by how giving and kind people are in this community. It seems that Missy attracts the best kinds of people. I feel that saying “thank you” is wholly inadequate in the face of this massive flood of caring and grace. I’m very moved by it. As inadequate it may be, I still say thank you. May you all be blessed.
I really believe that people who have things in common (like all of us having D) creates a “psychic” link between us even if we don’t really feel it. Because when you meet someone you have something in commong with you can almost instantly connect with them through that commonality. It is like kindred spirits.
Even though I have never meet Missy in person (and I haven’t even seen an actual picture of her), I still can visualize her in the hospital and send my strength to her. So, I guess that is what we all are doing - sending her our extra strength! I figure I am well right now so I can send her all my extra health and strength. 
(I’ll send her my low BGs for the day too!)
My latest contact from the family has Missy gradually coming around. She hasn’t opened her eyes but apparently, she is smiling. I hope she knows something that we don’t. As I get it, I will post it. There’s a clarification. Here eyes are closed but she is repeating the word “amen” – as her family was praying in her room, she heard them and would say "amen"with them – she constantly makes me very proud of her. When they pray, she smiles. When they stop, so does the smile.
That’s a lovely way to come out of surgery, with a smile. She must be dreaming happy dreams.
I don’t know but in thinking of Missy and people gathering around her, this song came into my head:
I was going to say that the angels watching out for her were telling her that everyone is praying for her but she obviously knows what is happening if she is saying amen with her family. That is encouraging news!

John now tells me (via email) that Missy has started humming. Message received, Missy. I like to think that Missy is trying to let us know that she’s okay.

Missy has awoken. She’s demanding to know why she’s still in the hospital. Honest to goodness. John is drafting an update. It’s been a very interesting evening. Missing was humming and Lita said she would wake up soon, she always used to hum before she woke up. Missy moved to a different song and Lita said the she would be up real quick because she always did 2.
I’m speechless. I am once again amazed and awed by the community here. The family sends their most heart felt thanks to the DOC who rallied behind their daughter/sister. Missy had read some of the posts on the other two strings and it brought her to tears. She knows a bit about how everyone feels.
We’re the Diabetic National Guard! Or does that have the whiff of sedition?

Hurray for Missy, and what a special thing to wake up humming songs. Really amazing. So happy for her, may good health embrace her and hold on to her!
